Ok guys and gals.

This week is shot for tryign to get a meeting at the capitol for a number of reasons. But it has also given me a thought about trying to host one more local to the suburbs as well. I'll do both.

How does the something like the night of the 4th or 5th work for springfield. And the 9th for back home. i can probado countryside or joliet, maybe winfield.

your thoughts. time on the 9th is open. We can do moring to not screw up the day, or later and take our time and kick it over a few drinks.

no web cast as I'm not going to end up on youtube as a camapign commercial for the anti-gunners. I'll talk to you all all you want. I just don;t need any more exposure on the www than I already have. Does any one remeber poltical eunich?

I'm near you Todd, in "Oz".

I'd have to make time on the 9th. I'm on a short leash these days with the 8 mo old and it will most likely cost me a range day but worth it to me if it is to organize and lay out a strategy.

I cannot make it to the capitol but if folks want to meet up somewhere in the 20 mile radius I'll stop out for an afternoon.

I had planned some "Pro Bono" time for this summer (72 hours or so) where I'll hit the bricks. My questions would only be concerning timing, strategy, and where I could contribute.

I could commit to something on Saturday, 9 May up in the Chicagoland area. My own vote would be for morning ... but I could come at any time on that Saturday. Where might we meet? If a few folks, just a restaurant? If many, then we might have to "get a room."

Thanks.

The weekend of the 4th works for me, but I do have to take myself off call on the 5th if we do it that evening, so I need to know. Sangamon County Rifle Association is already meeting in Springfield on the 6th, since that's the first Monday, but their meetings are already long, so maybe it's best to keep them separate.

The 9th would work well for me and Countryside or the western 'burbs is accessible too.

I'm a new guy here although not new to the Second Amendment Rights fight by any means so maybe this question is taken for granted by some here.

Is this a 2 way discussion or an update on what's going on in Springfield?

The reason I ask is that reading between the lines it sounds like you are trying too hard to convince folks here that the "CCW for all" approach you push is correct and the people here seem to prefer an incremental approach.

If the vast majority of people who show up disagree with your approach what are the chances of you and/or the NRA changing your failed strategy? If there is no chance of a change in strategy what will be my takeaway from this meeting?

Mr. Vandercamp...

Welcome to the site sir!

You have asked a question that I think, many others including me, were thinking, but didn't know how to ask!

Appreciate it!

I look forward to an answer!

ok boys and girls,

based on the thread here, I expect maybe 30 people to show up. based on that, we'll meet at DH Browns at 7:30 monday the 4th . I have a couple of fundraisers to hit before hand so I'll be there. you can park across the street in the state lot so there shouldn't be a problem, we'll sit in the back and can talk about the issues and get an update on Springfield.

been busy with chasing down ghosts and HJR51

I goofed on the SCRA dates (I was thinking the 4th and 5th were next weekend.) That means your meeting is the same day and time as the SCRA meeting. I'll still be coming, but it won't help your turnout or theirs.

That is pretty close to what I was thinking. Now I have to try to decide which one to attend.

Mr. Vandermyde,

From the similarities in our names it is clear we share a common ethnic heritage. What I don't think we share is a willingness to address thorny issues. Your ignoring my question is really all the answer I need. I don't see a reason for me to attend your lecture at this time.

sorry for missing your question.

The issue is that some people here have a lot of questions about what takes palce at the legisalture and some of NRA's plans. As well as what our current sitrep is at the capitol.

All i was offering was a chance to sit down with those people who wanted to, give an informal talk about where we are, where I think we are going and how we may get there.

Everything from Heller to Nordyke to the LCAV playing in Illinois to the 2010 election cycle and the 2012 election cycle and what we need to do.

i'm just trying to make my self available for questions and disscussion as there are things that I don't think are appropriate to put on this forum. but i am willing to take the time to have honest and frank talks about everyones ideas and answer questions that they may have on their mind.

Some have asked about the freedom brigades concept that i came up with, this will be a place for us towlak through it and talk about it. See if other people have better ideas or improvements to it. as weel as flush out how to impliment it.

things like HJR51 which got sprung on us last week I'm sure will come up.

Feel free to come by tonight. Or not.

Like I said, I'm just trying to make yself available to NRA members.

I'm on my way out of work now. For anyone who's not familiar with Springfield, the bar is on Monroe, the main street just to the north of the Capitol building, and just a couple of blocks to the East of the Capitol--but Monroe is one-way, so you can only get to the bar going East on Monroe (heading away from the Capitol building.)

How many other "Wooden Shoes" here besides me and you guys? A meeting for us "Southerners" would be nice, I promise not to bring up the subject of secession.

Todd,

Thanks for your time and efforts last night. There was some light shed on several viewpoints and I think we all gained from the experience. Keep us informed as to the status of HJR51.

Whats the chance that we can push the LTC legislation forward by pointing out that its just a matter of time now until the courts rule that bearing arms is as much a protected right as keeping them and the legislature would be better off if they put in place a CC system on their own rather than having the courts do it.

Incorporation for Illinois is probably just around the corner, maybe as early as December. thats how long they have to come up with a workable CC system before the courts force something on them.

Didja hear they are renaming the Chicago River to "De Nile"? Hey, it already flows backward.
