Whats the chance that we can push the LTC legislation forward by pointing out that its just a matter of time now until the courts rule that bearing arms is as much a protected right as keeping them and the legislature would be better off if they put in place a CC system on their own rather than having the courts do it.

Incorporation for Illinois is probably just around the corner, maybe as early as December. thats how long they have to come up with a workable CC system before the courts force something on them.

The Chicago caucus' opposition to LTC is based on emotion - not facts. So reasoning with them is useless. Look what happened in Washington, DC. Even though the U.S. Supreme Court found that Washington, DC's more than 30-year-old handgun ban violated the Second Amendment, the District then moved to ban semi-auto handguns.

By pointing out that Incorporation is possibly coming, that could cause them to resist even more vehemently.

Bob's comments make perfect sense to me, but if they want to resist LTC with an opt-out clause then having it forced upon the entire state later on will be our gain in the end. I think Buzzard's comments are a good prediction of what we can expect of Chicago lawmakers after incorporation in Illinois. They will drag their feet to delay things for us and avoid compliance as much as they can. Still, it will be a good day when incorporation happens. Hopefully it will be an early Christmas present!!

I would like to thank Todd for answering straight up questions with straight up answers. I would also like to say that it was very nice putting some in person faces to names. I enjoyed meeting you folks and look forward to more interaction in the future.

I agree it was a very worthwhile meeting and staying over an extra day made it possible to spend some time with TVM and the ISRA lobbyists in the Capitol and watch them in action.

Very educational. It was nice seeing Ashrak, Mr. and Mrs. Buzzard, SirMatthew, Abolt, and Don Gwinn!

Molly and Mr. B.

I'd like to come to the meeting tomorrow if I can.

So, can people just show up at that location in Countryside at 9:30am? Anything we need to bring or do beforehand to register? And is this a restaurant?

I'm not too sure since this is Todd's deal, but here are my best guesses:

I believe it's a banquet hall

Just show up and bring some questions you have for Todd with you.

My lawyer and friend initially invited me to join him in attending this conference (http://www.isba.org/lawed/2009/06enforcementfirearms/). He told me yesterday that he has to be out of town so we won't be attending. I was really looking forward to seeing how Todd does with the "How Broad is the Second Amendment" discussion which pits Hon. Patrick J Quinn vs. Todd VAndermyde.

I won't be attending without my attorney friend.. For a Non-Lawyer it is $245 to participate. I'm not a lawyer, I just train a few of them in Personal Defense.

I wish Todd good luck debating with Quinn (Illinois Apellate Court 1st District, Chicago) at 3:00 to 4:30.

I want to thank Todd for the time he put at Countryside Saturday, and allowing us to hear how things actually get accomplished in Springfield. My State Rep is Bob Rita and US Rep Bobby Rush, a pair that totally makes it an uphill climb, witnessed by the many calls and letters for action on other items that get no feedback. But I can definitely assist in other areas. I may not agree with all that Todd proposed for "mobilization", but can see the merit to at least taking some of the load off his plate in assisting putting the Chess pieces in play.

Not surprised at the turnout, short notice makes scheduling a challenge. Would have liked to know the others "handle names" there to put a face to the many names I see on the Forums, maybe a simple sticky on may help if there is a lot of people.

I have several clients who are involved in Springfield politics and County politics, and the many Professional Associations I have attended all have the same message.

"An educated voter is the most effective agent of change". The female component would be and still is the most effective means of communication, in my opinion as the Lane Bryant massacre hit so close to home.

Just as the young speakers at Wheaton spoke, a very articulate group of women making the local speaking circuit at open forums, would raise the confidence of so many people that 2A Rights are a means to a secure neighborhood. As many women have told me, they do not want to have handguns, they surely should not object to qualified, trained LTC Owners being around in their neighborhoods.

I would use the awesome map that Todd illustrated to highlight that point.

Thanks again for being available.
