From the Governor:

“I think it’s better to be fighting against assault weapons and protecting our officers and our communities against gang bangers who have assault weapons that are perpetrating mayhem and terrorism on the streets of Chicago. ... I’m running against somebody who supports assault weapons. Sen. [bill] Brady, every chance he gets, votes with the guns. I don’t think that’s the way to go.”

In my opinion, I don't think that's the way to go," Quinn said of last month's meeting between Weis and a handful of gang leaders. "I think a better way to go is to take on the assault weapons used by gangs to terrorize neighborhoods."

Hmmm his strategy reminds me of something....

Ah yes!

It reminds me of the poor catfish I caught while running a trot-line with some chicken livers.

They swallowed them livers whole - treble hook, leader, the whole thing! Yup, they made the ultimate commitment to a bad decision, and had a not so favorable outcome because of it.

They did taste mighty good after we fried them up though

I'm glad Quinn found his way over to this losing strategy. It is very complementary to the other bad decisions he's been making for IL.

he no he is loosing in the polls. what do you expect him to do. He cant put out an ad to talk about the changes he will bring to springfield.

Higher income taxes is what got stroger the boot

People eat those adds up, he is going to win (not by my choice or vote) it is Illinois after all.

It is sad how these dumb a$$ people keep getting elected, I have lost my faith in most of the people in Illinois.

I pray that I am wrong but fear I am not.

Quinn's a classic example of someone who used to be pro-gun who sold his soul to the lefties in Chicago and is now talking their satanic lingo.

Quinn used to be pro-gun?!

Guys let me shed a little light on some things.

You all know I live this stuff every day. In 94 Dick Morris had the generic ballot at +2 for the repubs. Exit polling had it at +4 and you see what we got.

Today both Gallop and Rassmussen have it at +10. Now I know we are 60 days out, but that is the largest it has ever been. In the 20th congressional district, they say it is double that here. Think about that, a 20 point edge to the repubs.

18 months ago they were writing the epitaph of the republican party. They were ready to claim Judy Biggert’s seat in the 13th, the 10th and see what else they could get. Today, Biggert is safe, the 14th, 10th and 11th are all in play. They are now starting to talk about the 17th being in play as well. That is the sleeper to watch.

This is trickling down and the House dems look to be going on defense with little to no offense to try and save the majority. The difference between this and ’94 is they see this one coming.

Brady is up. Quinn has no message, and $2 mill from the DGA has moved 0 points. I have been around to see elections “stolen” but that is getting harder and harder. And this year they have to over come a 10 point edge right now generally. I hear dem staff is being moved into safe district now to protect incumbents from a tidal wave.

Some say the house repubs are leading 6 democratic controlled seats by double digits. With another 6 in play. The Speaker is nervous and is trying to raise money like crazy. Right now I don’t believe that 3 to 1 is enough money to win some races. And 3 to 1 means they got to spend at least $500,000 in 10 races.

It’s not over and 60 days is a life time in politics. But if no one steps on their micky, It looks like at least 4 house Fs will be replaced by As or Bs.

The money line says Quinn has less than 2 weeks to turn this around before people start bailing – the money people. Get out and work for your guy and with a bit of luck things will turn out well this fall.

Barring any last minute scandal it’s gonna be interesting.

I was slightly startled by the phone a few minutes ago, and was sort of half thinking when I answered - with a pause from the other end that made me think "robo-call" until something else barely remembered switched me to think "this is a live person I am interacting with..." :

AS I was thinking that, I hear:

"I'm calling on behalf of Governor Pat Quinn"

That's ALL he got out...

I thought somewhat distractedly

" I wouldn't vote for Governor Pat Quinn EVEN if he put a gun to my head."

and was surprised to hear those words coming OUT of MY MOUTH...

(and iirc in a matter of fact voice - NOT angry)

and I hung up....

I'm still shaking my head.....

WHERE did THAT come from?????????????

Oh Quinn has a message alright. It's the same old talking points that we've heard since the GCA of '68.

It's amazing how long a failed policy can keep breathing, even though it's as dead as it gets.

He's more than likely just preparing his rhetoric for a job with Daley or the Brady bunch.

I just hope none of the pro-gun guys step in it...

We already see how well the assault weapon ban in Cook County & gun bans in Chicago have worked...On that note, the opposite must be true....It all comes back to "criminals do not obey the law no matter what laws you create and pass". Give the people the power, not empower the criminals.

I was out at the Aurora Sportsmen's Club today and answered the phone.

It was a Robo-Call from the UAW/AFL-CIO asking me to vote for Quinn.

I listened to it all the way through thinking that I might be able to leave a comment at the end.

But alas, it was not to be. It simply hung up on me at the end of the message.

Much like Quinn himself.....

I already have Brady signs in my yard....
