Drylok Posted July 23, 2010 at 02:25 PM Posted July 23, 2010 at 02:25 PM Got a call into Jeff Kibler who is the Brady campaign organizer for Champaign county. Going to be setting up a meeting with him for one day next week so we can get started. Had one in depth conversation with a guy at work and one with two guys out and about, regarding the importance of sending Brady to the mansion this fall.
Lou Posted July 23, 2010 at 02:39 PM Posted July 23, 2010 at 02:39 PM I wrote my second check this week to elect Bill Brady.
Buzzard Posted July 23, 2010 at 03:20 PM Posted July 23, 2010 at 03:20 PM I purchased a ticket for the "An Evening with Senator Bill Brady" Fundraising Dinner. Todays the last day to get in! It's not too late!
Bud Posted July 23, 2010 at 03:32 PM Posted July 23, 2010 at 03:32 PM Sent this letter to the Ottawa Times: To the Editor: Debbie Halvorson is becoming desperate. The Illinois 11th Congressional District Democrat is in a hard fought battle with Adam Kinzinger, a Republican. Kinzinger, who is a pilot with the US Air Force Reserve and who has made several deployments to Iraq , was recently the subject of a letter written by Halvorson campaign manager, Travis Worl. Worl wrote the US Air Force Special Operations Command . Apparently Worl was hoping to dig up some dirt on Kinzinger's claimed service as a recon aircraft pilot with the US Air Force's Special Operations Command. Worl received a letter back from the Air Force confirming that Captain Kinzinger had indeed served tours as a reconnaissance pilot with the 745th Special Operations Squadron in Iraq in both 2008 and again in 2009. Kinzinger, while visiting Milwaukee where his Reserve unit is stationed, had occasion to do some hands on heroics when he observed an attacker cut a woman's throat on a Milwaukee street corner. Without any consideration for his own safety, Kinzinger tackled and subdued the attacker and saved the woman's life. The US Air Force awarded Captain Kinzinger the Airman's Medal for Heroism for his actions. If Travis Worl would like to verify that incident, the woman whose life was saved is available and more than willing to confirm the story. Halvorson is beginning to realize the truth that many of us recognized several years ago when she first ran for office. She really has no clue. I urge everyone to consider her voting record in supporting Nancy Pelosi and her obvious disdain for an American hero and her willingness to attack his service in order to get re-elected when the November election comes around. Bud Harton Sent this letter to the Peru News-Tribune:To The Editor: It seems rare to hear of person who sincerely cares about others and strives to do what is right. With a commendable military record and other accomplishments such as receiving Southeast Wisconsin's Red Cross Hero of the Year award for saving a women's life from a violent attacker, this rare type of person is exactly who is running for congress this year against Debbie Halvorson. His name is Adam Kinzinger, and he has the type of clean record most politicians could only dream . None the less Halvorson's campaign still started a vicious attack on Adam Kinzinger and his military record, hopelessly trying to stir up some kind of controversy. In a recent article by the Southtown Star titled "Dirt won't stick to Clean Captain," the dirt digging emails from Debbie Halvorson to her campaign manager Travis Worl were revealed. Wohl sought information as to see if he could discredit Kinzinger's military record, but clearly did not like what he found. Since the results were not to Halvroson's campaign's liking, they desperately tried to attack the wording from his biography in hopes to claim that he was overstating his accomplishments. But as this article's title so accurately states, the dirt just won't stick to him. Right now, Debbie Halvorson seems more concerned with making her opponent look bad then focusing on the concerns of Illinois' Citizens. We have real problems and issues that need to be discussed and that include, but are not limited to unemployment, education, and overspending. Voters would most likely be interested in Halvorson's support for such bills as the Stimulus, Cap and Trade, and Healthcare. It is refreshing to see someone like Adam Kinzinger who is genuine and really does have a clean record despite claims otherwise. At least we can count on one person in this campaign to stick to what is really important in this election. Bud Harton

Lou Posted July 27, 2010 at 12:09 AM Posted July 27, 2010 at 12:09 AM Here is a great opportunity for all Springfield area patriots: Hey everybody, if you are available on the evening of Thursday August 12th, please consider walking in the 2010 Illinois State Fair Twilight Parade in support of our statewide Republican Ticket (Especially Bill Brady and Jason). The parade starts at 6:00 p.m. in Springfield, and ends at the State fairgrounds (See Events link for more details). We need to have an Army of Republican supporters walking in this parade which kicks off the State Fair. We have to send a loud and clear message that a new day is dawning for Illinois. It is time for a "Clean Break" from the Democratic led Trainwreck that we have been watching for the last 8 years. Come out on the night of Thursday August 12th and be a part of the "Republican Revolution" that is going to win BIG in November. Molly B. kurt555gs Posted July 31, 2010 at 06:01 AM Posted July 31, 2010 at 06:01 AM I support Debbie Halvorson, who by the way, supports the right to carry. Molly B has always done a great job keeping other political issues out of illinoiscarry.com. I hope that in the future this site will stay that way. The right to carry is NOT limited to Republican voters. I am a progressive Democrat that reads our Constitution, and believes it should be the highest law of the land. Our Constitution, and the freedoms it guaranties are not limited to any one party. I would hope illinoiscarry.com can stick to it's mission with as little political party bias as possible.
Sigma Posted July 31, 2010 at 06:23 AM Posted July 31, 2010 at 06:23 AM Its very hard to ignore politics when there is one party that repeatedly votes against us. Im glad Kurt555 that you are a progressive democrat and want the right to carry. Please try and convince the rest of democrats to have a like mind and we wont have this fight any longer.Look at the voting records of the people who vote on bills to affect our right to carry. One party always votes against us. Of course there are a couple of good and bad in each party but if you want right to carry the only way to do it is get the people who will vote against it out of office. And right now you will agree, based on voting records, and pledges to vote against RTC that the democrats are mostly the ones preventing it.Even the judges who arent supposed to be political vote based on the party that nominated them.I do know what you mean. No one here wants this to become a political site but this particular part of the forum is called Illinois Politics.

No one here wants this to become a political site but this particular part of the forum is called Illinois Politics. You are so right. And those Democrats who do support us MUST put pressure on their fellow Democrats to also support this Constitutional right. A huge obstacle to getting a Right to Carry law passed is the leadership in both the IL House and IL Senate. The majority party elects that leadership. The time has come to tell pro-gun Democrats in both chambers to put pressure on that leadership to allow a vote on a Right to Carry bill or we will no longer be able to support them. Okay - back to "What did you do this week to support a Pro-Carry candidate?
kurt555gs Posted July 31, 2010 at 02:56 PM Posted July 31, 2010 at 02:56 PM What I was referring to is the fact that Debbie Halverson is a solid strong supporter for Right to Carry, so any mention of Adam Kinzinger is purely partisan. Totally about other issues.

lockman Posted July 31, 2010 at 04:48 PM Posted July 31, 2010 at 04:48 PM Wrote a letter to the Editor. About rights denied in Illinois and to support right-to-carry candidates.
Don Gwinn Posted July 31, 2010 at 08:40 PM Posted July 31, 2010 at 08:40 PM Kurt, in fairness, your point is taken but you almost seem to be asking that Budman not be allowed to advocated for his candidate. You might want to have a conversation with him about why he supports Kinzinger and why you support Halvorson. Either way, we're not going to tell anyone here that he can't advocate for his candidate any more than we would tell you not to point out Halvorson's pro-gun record (I admit, that was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw her name in the letter; I don't know much about her but I've heard her described as pro-gun.) If you've got a pro-gun Democrat and you want to work for them, that's great. You might have a word with them about their leadership's actions on RTC, too, and no one who worked for their opponents would be able to get very far doing that.

You might have a word with them about their leadership's actions on RTC, too, and no one who worked for their opponents would be able to get very far doing that. Boy, I sure trip a lot of triggers here.I invited Halvorson to attend the Town Hall on right to carry that I sponsored at LaSalle County last month. She didn't show up, she sent one of her staffers who declined to answer any questions from the almost 200 participants. That was being fair to her because I also invited Adam Kinzinger, but she won't appear in public. Captain Kinzinger did show up and stayed afterward to meet and speak with the participants. What she or at least her campaign manager attempted against Captain Kinzinger is dispicable and is the typical tactic of a desperate failing politician desperate to retain power. She won't appear in public to answer her constituents questions (I am not the only one she has blown off) but she decides to attack her opponents military service rather than debate the issues. You might also read some of my other posts where I urged people to vote for their local candidate if they will support right to carry regardless of party adffiliation. As far as your statement, "I am a progressive Democrat that reads our Constitution, and believes it should be the highest law of the land. Our Constitution, and the freedoms it guaranties are not limited to any one party. I would hope illinoiscarry.com can stick to it's mission with as little political party bias as possible" take a few minutes to revisit the 1st Amendment and after reading it, tell me why you want to deny my 1st Amendment rights.
kurt555gs Posted August 1, 2010 at 03:47 AM Posted August 1, 2010 at 03:47 AM Hey, I said nothing derogatory about Mr Kinzinger. Don't plan on it. So, we have 2 pro gun candidates for the same district, one with a proven record, the other saying he will support pro gun measures. I prefer Debbie Halvorson's positions on non gun issues, Budman prefers the challenger. The right to carry wins either way. Therefore, there is no need to try to paint either candidate in a bad light here. That is all I was saying.
Don Gwinn Posted August 1, 2010 at 04:02 AM Posted August 1, 2010 at 04:02 AM Budman . . . relax. This is not a fight.

Link to letter: http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=398330&src= Excerpt:The Supreme Court recently applied the right to keep and bear arms to state and local governments. Justice Scalia wrote in that decision that this right guarantees, "the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation." Where does that leave Illinois residents and visitors who want to exercise this fundamental right? The one just before that is a good one also: http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=398328&src= Excerpt: "The conventions of a number of the States having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: (i.e.-The Bill of Rights) And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best insure the beneficent ends of its institution."

Spent 2 evenings doing "phone from home" polling for a pro-carry candidate. Spoke at a local service club meeting and informed folks how important to take part in the election process in order to regain our Second Amendment rights.

Molly B. Posted August 15, 2010 at 02:53 AM Author Posted August 15, 2010 at 02:53 AM What????!!! Another week has come and gone??!! This week: 1. Met with the board of our local gun club and recruited volunteers to put out campaign signs for pro-Second Amendment candidates all over our county and to march in the local parade for those candidates. 2. Contacted local campaign offices to arrange pick up of signs and a list of possible places to post the signs. 3. Recruited 2 new callers for a Call from Home program for pro-Second Amendment candidates. 4. Drove to Chicago to meet with friends about how to support pro-Second Amendment candidates in that area of the state. 5. Spent 1.5 hours making calls for pro-Second Amendment candidates. If you have not contacted the local campaign office of pro-Second Amendment candidates in your area and offered your help - whatcha waiting for?? Let's go, let's go, let's gooooooo!
Molly B. Posted August 21, 2010 at 09:06 PM Author Posted August 21, 2010 at 09:06 PM And another week closer to the election! This past week made arrangements for delivery of campaign signs for a pro-RTC candidate.Enlisted the help of a former mail carrier friend to help our local group compile a list of choice highly visible locations to place signs. Traded a few hours of watching bad television for a few hours of making calls for pro-2A candidates. Ditto the same for a couple of hours this morning. Enlisted the help of a couple of friends to join in the fun. I am encouraged by the response I get during these calls too! Have you contacted the local campaign office of a pro-2A candidate to see how you can help? Are you talking to your friends and family about pro-2A candidates? Writing letters to the editor?
Molly B. Posted September 26, 2010 at 02:26 AM Author Posted September 26, 2010 at 02:26 AM Monday - Picked up list of locations to post yard signs for the leading pro-2A candidate for governor. Delivered signs to those locations. Tuesday - Spoke at a town hall meeting to encourage voters to get involved in the election process to insure our next governor is a pro2A supporter. Wednesday - worked with fellow organizers to make plans for more town hall meetings in the Chicago area before the election. Thursday - delivered more signs and spoke to friends and acquaintances in support of pro2A candidates. Friday - called more locations about posting signs. Saturday - marched in parade for pro2A candidate for governor. And over the course of the week made a total of 475 calls in support of that same pro2A candidate for governor. Have you contacted the local campaign office of a pro-2A candidate to see how you can help? Are you talking to your friends and family about pro-2A candidates?
