If there someone in the house the sound of a shotgun racking is universal GTFO and needs no translation. JQ It's also the universal sound that gives away your position and gives a home invader a direction to start firing blindly in. I don't know the statistics but I suspect 99% of the people that break in a home aren't there to kill you and if they are your probably even more prepared. A shotgun rack at the top of the stairs will send more people away not wanting to even go to the bottom of the stairs. For the 1% it's either hand grenades or BB's and chemicals because i they know you they won't come alone. If Iâm burglarizing a home and I hear a shotgun racking, Iâm dumping my mag in the direction the sound came from, even if I had no intention of killing the homeowners. People breaking into a home where the homeowners are at home are not going in with good intentions. Burglars usually wait for you to not be home which is why most burglaries happens during the day, or at night when the homeowner is out of town or away. You wonât find a single reputable trainer advising you to give away your position like that. If you do find one, theyâre not reputable and I wouldnât give them a dime of my money.I have a shockwave that I installed a rail and light and put it in service for home defense with oo buck.but after some consideration I put it in the safe.I know every nook, crannie,in my home and I figured why give away my position with a light.I figure I have the advantage with handgun with tritium sights in low light.and chances are,I'm the better shot.

My ideal setup would be a 300 blackout SBR with a suppressor and subsonic ammo. Seeing as only one of those things is even possible here in Illinois, my go to is a handgun. Most of the thousands and thousands of rounds I shoot every year are through a couple different handguns, I'm proficient enough with it to not be at a disadvantage. Be nice if I can have that 300 blackout so that I don't blow my eardrums out, but I'll make due until I get out of this retarded state.
papa Posted December 8, 2019 at 11:10 PM Posted December 8, 2019 at 11:10 PM I would love to have a shockwave with a laser on it but not a light. I agree with the SBR in 300blk and a can. We can dream I guess.

Totally agree on your strategy. Use the handgun first, it gives you a free hand to locate a wall in the dark or grab a child or whatever. Lights and lasers give you away. In the dark and a VERY familiar environment you have an advantage. AFTER you retreat WITH your loved ones to a safe room, then use the two-handed firearm. I don't care how much training the bad guy has, if you are in a your safe room in the dark with your pump action shotgun and aiming at the threat and rack the shotgun, ONE shoot in the dark from the bad guy ..... bad guy loses.
