Recently several Lake County officials held an informational session on FCCA implementation. The meeting filled up rapidly and a lot of people were turned away, but they announced that they would hold additional sessions so that everybody who wanted to attend got a chance to do so.

The second such session is scheduled for Monday April 21, 7-8 pm. The announcement is on State's Attorney Nerheim's FB page at https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=679835732074289&set=a.494384067286124.1073741828.494006590657205&type=1&theater

This session will be held at the Grayslake campus of the College of Lake County and not at the location used for the first session.

This and later sessions will also show up on the Lake County home page, http://www.lakecountyil.gov/Pages/default.aspx

At the first session attendees heard some well-focused talks dealing with the provisions of the FCCA and the implementation issues faced by law enforcement, but the bulk of the meeting was Q&A and was quite useful. Most of the speakers stayed after the official end of the meeting and took further questions in small groups.

If there was an anti presence it was a very quiet one. In any case the first speaker made it clear that the meeting was to discuss implementation issues and not to debate the merits of concealed carry.

Here is the flyer:

I attended the first one and it was good. Well worth it for any Lake County residents who couldn't make it or got turned away from the last one. It's nothing new to most of us here, because we've lived and breathed it for months, but it's very good for to hear from the people in charge of implementing the law, in our county, exactly how they view it. To hear their attitude and approach directly, in person. It made me appreciate Lake County more than I already did.

I was not there but heard the first one turned out pretty good. Not an ANTI meeting at all.

I attended the first and plan to attend the second. I'd like to see if any of their answers have changed now that they've had a couple weeks to review the initial questions and their responses. I hope this room will be larger than the one in Gurnee.

Dammit- I was one of those turned away in the driveway for the last meeting, and I'm running the shift on Monday.

I'll stay tuned in here for updates.

I talked with someone who was at this meeting. She said it was pretty much the same as the first one, i.e. good.
