I have a question I had did a change of address on my FOID card and about a week and a half later I finished my CCL class so I called the IL State Police to find out how much longer my FOID card was going to be so I could submit my CCL app she told me I'm only a week in a half in on my change of address so I should just submit my CCL app now instead of waiting to get my FOID card so that's what I did and it's about three weeks later and they are both under review my question is can I still bu a firearm I want to get a P320 that my local shop has for a good price but I'm confused weather or not my FOID is still active she told me it would be but being that it's under review I'm not sure do any of you know about this if you could help me I would really would appreciate it thanks in advance!

Cause the lady that I talk too at the State Police she said I would not be able to buy s firearm during this process and that's why I am confused but I've been told there is not reason I can't buy something so I'm just all the way confused

Buy

Go get what you want

That's the second time this month a lady at the ISP told someone they couldn't get a new firearm

Did you do the check that MollyB posted above?

That lady told another member to put all his guns in a safe and lock them up till he got a new card

Many great threads here about the foid being valid till the new one shows up

MollyB would be the best advice, but you'd have to take advice to use it!

If the FOID verification comes back approved then you are good to go. The ISP help desk is not always correct in their responses . . .

A good reason to give your name and ask the help desk person for their first name. If misinformation is given out, it can be reported and the staff can be provided with the right information. Doesn't need to be a hostile exchange, just ask for a first name and log the date and time of day. When it is determined that correction is needed, then one of our contacts with the ISP can work through channels to make sure that the correct info is provided. In defense of the help desk personnel, at one time, your FOID was rendered invalid while the FCCL was in progress due to a glitch in procedure. We were able to get that fixed, but some of the staff obviously has not been brought up to date. Most of these folks are conscientious and dedicated to doing it right, but they are not all "gun" folks and as well versed in the gun laws as most of our members are. Just a case of miscommunication.

I'm not sure but I bought my first AR-15 from a gun show a couple months ago and my FOID address didn't match my current address on my DL and he didn't say one work to me about it he just ask me what was was my current address and that was it!
