Molly B. Posted February 9, 2017 at 12:42 PM Posted February 9, 2017 at 12:42 PM You can verify your FOID at this link: https://www.ispfsb.com/Public/Firearms/FOID/PersonToPersonFirearmTransfer.aspx It should remain active until you receive the new card.

buddyk1986 Posted February 9, 2017 at 01:43 PM Author Posted February 9, 2017 at 01:43 PM Cause the lady that I talk too at the State Police she said I would not be able to buy s firearm during this process and that's why I am confused but I've been told there is not reason I can't buy something so I'm just all the way confused
Bubbacs Posted February 9, 2017 at 01:59 PM Posted February 9, 2017 at 01:59 PM BuyGo get what you wantThat's the second time this month a lady at the ISP told someone they couldn't get a new firearmDid you do the check that MollyB posted above? That lady told another member to put all his guns in a safe and lock them up till he got a new card Many great threads here about the foid being valid till the new one shows upMollyB would be the best advice, but you'd have to take advice to use it!

The ISP help desk is not always correct in their responses . . .
abolt243 Posted February 9, 2017 at 03:01 PM Posted February 9, 2017 at 03:01 PM Cause the lady that I talk too at the State Police she said I would not be able to buy s firearm during this process and that's why I am confused but I've been told there is not reason I can't buy something so I'm just all the way confused If the FOID verification comes back approved then you are good to go. The ISP help desk is not always correct in their responses . . . A good reason to give your name and ask the help desk person for their first name. If misinformation is given out, it can be reported and the staff can be provided with the right information. Doesn't need to be a hostile exchange, just ask for a first name and log the date and time of day. When it is determined that correction is needed, then one of our contacts with the ISP can work through channels to make sure that the correct info is provided. In defense of the help desk personnel, at one time, your FOID was rendered invalid while the FCCL was in progress due to a glitch in procedure. We were able to get that fixed, but some of the staff obviously has not been brought up to date. Most of these folks are conscientious and dedicated to doing it right, but they are not all "gun" folks and as well versed in the gun laws as most of our members are. Just a case of miscommunication.

InterestedBystander Posted February 9, 2017 at 05:56 PM Posted February 9, 2017 at 05:56 PM I seem to recall one report posted of a shop declining a sale when the physical FOID address did not match DL address per store policy, but being valid, hopefully if you run into that they would honor and hold it for you knowing your card is valid and a new one is coming.
buddyk1986 Posted February 9, 2017 at 07:30 PM Author Posted February 9, 2017 at 07:30 PM I'm not sure but I bought my first AR-15 from a gun show a couple months ago and my FOID address didn't match my current address on my DL and he didn't say one work to me about it he just ask me what was was my current address and that was it!
