A friend of mine just called the Champaign county SA office. Secretary anwers the phone and he asks to speak with the SA. Secretary asks for his badge number. He says I don't have a badge number I have a question regarding her stance on the UUW law that was struck down by 7CCA. She says, oh so you're just a citizen :ermm: He says ya I'm just a citizen who pays your and her salary. She puts him on hold, talks to the SA and comes back only to say if you have questions about the law you should contact the sheriffs office. This SA is an R, my friend voted for her and this is how he's treated?????

My mom was a meter maid for Wheaton - they're now called Parking Enforcement Officers or something similar. But anyway, I can tell you that public employees don't respond well to the "I'm a taxpayer - I pay your salary" routine...

More of them should be mindful of for whom they are working

Rietz is not a republican.

From some of the plea bargins and sentenses I have seen come out of her office I don't think she is much of a SA either. Jim.

That's exactly the point. Some of them are acting as though they would be creating a new law when in actuality they would be doing the same thing they do EVERY OTHER DAY and that is decide who and what will be prosecuted .

I am VERY disappoint in our Sangamon county SA. I mistakenly assumed him to be more of a leader than he is

You guys are confusing Julia Reitz ® states attorney for champaign county and Dan Reitz (D) former state rep.

She is a dem. I guarantee she won't be joining the other SA's in this effort. Her own husband, an urbana policeman left a 1911 on the top of his truck when driving to a moonlight security gig at a movie theater. The pistol was never recovered.

If free governments the rulers are the servants, and the people their superiors and sovereigns. For the former, therefore, to return among the latter was not to degrade but to promote them.

Benjamin Franklin: Convention debate (26 July 1787)

Yeah, we are so far gone. :ermm:

Typical of SA's that cower behind the cloak of "conflict of interest". In their mind, they work for the police (county), as their legal counsel, and should never indicate to their constituency how they would react to "legal hypothetical". There would be a fine line, but I still believe its fair to challenge them on the topic of how the 7th circuit's ruling impacts their decision to seek prosecution.

Best thing to do is get someone who opposes them in the next election, and throw their butts out of office... Mine went unopposed this election, we'll see if we can get this to change in the next.

there was an article a few days back where she highlights why she is not on board with it. http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2013-06-18/rietz-not-joining-group-allowing-concealed-carry-now.html . Seems like an excuse to me. A family friend (cop) told me a few months back that she instructed champaign police to still arrest people for console/glove box carry. even if the gun was unloaded and otherwise obeying the letter of the law. She seems to be the type that will file charges and waste taxpayer money on prosecuting an unconstitutional law even if she has no chance on winning.

Oh you wanna talk stupid? Leaving your service weapon on the roof of a car is NOTHING compared to this act of idiocy (by a CLEO no less). When I lived in Madison, the Chief of Police had stored his service weapon (a Glock...but he called it his service revolver, more on that later) in the oven to thwart burglars and had "forgot about it." Well one day he decided he wanted to roast some turkey because he was apparently quite the chef. He actually put the turkey in the oven with the pistol still in the oven and didn't even notice. Naturally the idiot didn't even bother to clear it before he put it in the oven so it had a round in the chamber. Well, 350 degrees later, *POP* and he needed a new oven...and some other stuff too. Oh, yes, his "service revolver" Glock 17/19 (the WI State Urinal I mean Journal) reported it as a 9mm. Now, I bet you're wondering how he got that job, two words: Affirmative Action. He suspended himself voluntarily for a period of one day as a result.

Knowing my luck I'd probably give her a random number which turns out to be a legit badge number and that of some high up local LEO. "Oh hey Deputy Chief Smith!" "Deputy Chief!?!? OH ....!"

The former Winnetka Chief of Police Herbert Timm, a reknowned anti-civilian-RKBA type installed a .355" skylight in his office while "cleaning" his Glock.

Interestingly enough, his department was among the first in the US to adopt the Austrian export, and he tried (unsuccessfully) to allow the village to let his cops carry Uzis as patrol weapons.

No, real ones. Chicago Tribune Article from 1989

Hrm...anti-citizen-RKBA yet donated money to the RNC and other Republican PACs including the Senatorial Campaign that funded our lovely friend Mark Kirk's successful run.

People were saying he's Rock Hudson's love child? Seriously? My ex is from Glencoe, she's an entitled little.... Is everyone around there messed up? The Wilmette Police Chief advised citizens to lock themselves in a closet or bathroom and call 911 after that whole shoot the burglar in the back (twice) thing. "You might hurt someone" "Yeah I know." I found this in a Libune piece on the aforementioned belief that he is the ******* child of Rock Hudson.

"He was then equally candid with reporters, if a bit abashed, when his Glock 17 pistol accidentally discharged Nov. 28 as he was moving it from his holster to his office desk drawer, putting a hole in the wall."

Accidentally as he was "moving" it? I've never had a firearm discharge on its own while I'm "moving" it from my holster, or unholstering it for that matter Probably because I'm not used to the DA pull on revolvers....plus the fact that, erm, yeah.
