Kipp Jones Posted June 6, 2019 at 06:11 PM Posted June 6, 2019 at 06:11 PM Looking for training in IL for the required DC permit training. I have my IL CCW.
Craigcelia Posted June 6, 2019 at 06:25 PM Posted June 6, 2019 at 06:25 PM I found the list of instructors for that training. None of which appear to be in Illinois. Several in Maryland though.. https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/concealed-carry-firearms-training-instructors-certified-mpd To be an instructor, besides the ordinary hoops you have to go through, it also includes a $435 fee for only two years!
Mr. Fife Posted June 6, 2019 at 11:25 PM Posted June 6, 2019 at 11:25 PM My girlfriend had a heck of a time getting her D.C. license while she lived in D.C. She even wrote a book about it. I skimmed through most of it but didn't see Illinois mentioned FWIW.

Mr. Fife Posted June 7, 2019 at 06:51 PM Posted June 7, 2019 at 06:51 PM Well she doesn't know that she's my girlfriend yet. I'll read the whole thing before we ever meet.
Xwing Posted June 10, 2019 at 05:47 PM Posted June 10, 2019 at 05:47 PM Looking for training in IL for the required DC permit training. I have my IL CCW. If you ever find an instructor in Illinois, post it here. I'd certainly sign up for a class if I could ever take one within a 3-4 hour drive instead of the 12+ hour drive to near D.C. Actually someone could probably make a nice little profit by becoming registered as a D.C. instructor and then teaching somewhat near a large population center (like Chicago) far from D.C. They would have enough interest IMO and no competition...
Quiet Observer Posted June 11, 2019 at 02:10 AM Posted June 11, 2019 at 02:10 AM Out of curiosity - why would someone want a DC ccw, other than a resident or visitor? Is it recognized by a state that does not honor most other states?

Is it recognized by a state that does not honor most other states? To +1 to the list of states / territories in which I can carry... A DC permit is the only one recognized by DC. If I could get a DC carry permit, I would strongly consider a family trip there. But otherwise, no way.
