  1. So, in the renewal class, everything was pretty much boilerplate stuff that you'd expect. One thing stuck out to me, though. It was said that you can only carry one firearm, no backup. I don't remember that being part of the original law, and I keep relatively up to date with it. Had that been added or is the language of the actual law supportive of this take? Let me know!
  2. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Scotus won't save us, we have to do the leg work. If they hand down a decision which slaps down this horrible law, great. But, the people that put it in place aren't gone, they're just going to come at it from another angle. We have to plan for that. For me, that's in the form of exit plans from this state. My family is here, but between the horrifying property tax bills, the regressive restrictions on constitutional rights, the wokeifying of schools, soft on crime DAs, the unpleasantness of this place is just becoming too much. It probably won't be immediate, but I'm going to leave this inky blue place to stew in its juices.
  3. You are, of course, correct. I think that applies to all the boys in blue who will enforce this new blatantly unconstitutional edict, as well. The one thing that is certain, at least for me, is this is more motivation to find a place other than Illinois to move to.
  4. Just got a full kydex single clip holster that I really like from We The People holsters. Definitely one for the list.
  5. That sucks, I might have jumped the shark a bit. A FFL has a firearm and I obviously can't pick it up without my FOID. The 23rd will be 30 days. I did see plenty of folks getting their FOID (recently) before the 30 day mark, so I might have gotten overly optimistic. I am very glad I got both my CCL and FOID application in pre-Orlando, tho. CCL times seem to be ~60 days right now, hopefully a flood of new applicants doesn't slow that down. Here's to hoping mine was in the mail before Orlando. Do you have your CCL, but not the FOID? You can certainly use the CCL to buy things. I haven't had trouble.
  6. Dang, Ronin, that's a glowing review if I ever saw one. If like to have been a fly on the wall in the conversations arising from that letter.
  7. Not in the law, it's corporate policy. Take your money elsewhere.
  8. He meant it'll be fixed when you no longer are required to have a FOID.

  10. Ok, I found something interesting about post office parking areas... http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/11/us/guns-post-office/ What's this mean for us?
  11. I've not seen liquor stores posted, generally. The liquor license for just selling is different from serving, and I would think they would have been informed by now if they were required to post. You can't knowingly carry if it's not specifically named in the law, or not posted. If you have permission from the owner, you could carry in FOID only days, as well, since it's a fixed place of business.
  12. You know, I'm seeing a lot of "parks" in Champaign area losing their CPZ signs. I'm actually at work, next to a patch of grass which is apparently controlled by the Champaign Park District. There is a sign on the main roadway, but not on the side next to the residential neighborhood. Does this constitute a park? What about the tiny patches of grass where they have a flower bed and a sign? I really think we need to get rid of these arbitrary and amorphous borders where your rights no longer exist, in fact, they are actively stripped by the law which I thought was the point of the suit that got the FCCL in place. Considering my taxes are paying for it as well, I'm definitely not getting my benefit of it since I cannot effectively protect myself and my children in some park. So, either I should be able to opt out of paying for it, or I should be able to practice my rights on land I help pay to maintain. The other issue here was my first point. CPZ signs are disappearing on some parks. I don't know if people have stolen them, or if they were removed purposely by the park district. Centennial Park's CPZ signs are gone, but Kaufman park is still posted. Kaufman Lake is posted as well, which I didn't think qualified as a park, since it's a location where fishing is a primary purpose. I think there needs to be something done about the prohibited locations. Just like the case that has begun to bring down the walls between the states for firearm sales, there is no demonstrable benefit for causing there to be so many prohibited locations. Yet, there are instances where a "gun free zone" has been demonstrated to be a danger, because it provides unarmed victims for those intent on great bodily harm. Let's add to that the punitive way in which they enforce the CPZ's, and just simply possessing a thing inside some magical border becomes some egregious crime. At most, it is trespass, only to be escalated when there is actual criminal intent.
  13. I applied April 13th with an app number of 727xx, added portions about 2-3 weeks in, got my card in about 39 days.
  14. Was anyone else expecting confetti to fly out of the envelope? I was a bit disappointed, I would have hoped for the money, they could have thrown in a little fanfare.
  15. I'm out and about, license in the wallet, and carrying. What a surprise this has come in my lifetime
  16. I'm hoping to see something today, maybe tomorrow. My mail person lives around the corner from me, so I see her go home for lunch. Always messes with new when I'm waiting in something, hearing the truck go by.
  17. TL;DR: Lisa M's office asking them basically whats going on and reminding them of their obligations to respond.
  18. As you have been, thanks for keeping us posted. I see this as very interesting, considering the say they have in determining wether we can practice our supposed rights.
  19. So, what's the tally? How many requests have you submitted as of now?
