Rahm Emanuel has a new radio ad targeting African-Americans

In a radio ad airing on Chicago hip-hop station WGCI, Annette Nance-Holt, mother of slain Chicago Public Schools student Blair Holt, endorses Emanuel.

In May of 2007, a 16-year-old gang member opened fire on a CTA bus. Blair, also 16, dove in front of a classmate to shield her from the gunfire and was killed.

Annette Nance-Holt, a Chicago Fire Department captain, and the boy’s father Ronald Holt, a Chicago police officer, have been committed to stopping gun violence in Chicago’s communities since their son was slain.

“Soon, Chicago will choose a new mayor,” Nance-Holt says in the ad. “I want someone with a strong record of fighting crime and gun violence. As President Clinton’s point man on crime, Rahm Emanuel put 100,000 more police officers on the streets, including hundreds more here in Chicago.”

The ad also uses a quote from Barack Obama.

If there was any dobt about what he might do, I think it's answered.

p.s. does someone want to post it here. I just can't figure this yuotube stuff out.

more on Rahm and guns

http://www.southtownstar.com/news/mcqueary/2938948,120210mcqueary.article

"Nobody respects the uniform anymore," restaurant patron Kathy Irving, of Chicago, lamented, shaking her head. "It's just not like it used to be. Only God has the real plan, the best plan. But we need someone to do something."

Emanuel said he hasn't ruled out taking advantage of loopholes that might allow him flexibility on the city's handgun ban. Again, he wouldn't offer details, but said: "I'm not happy with the (U.S. Supreme) Court's decision, but I'm not going to sit on my hands either."

It's disturbing when a mayoral candidate for one of Americas largest cities talks openly about using "loopholes" to deprive American citizens of their constitutional rights.

Though it might not seem like it if you are a gun owner in Chicago ...

The harder they come, the harder they fall. So if Rahm wants to make gun control a signature issue and wear it on his sleeve ... he is ultimately setting himself up for frustration. Because I think that he too will be dragged kicking and screaming into respecting second amendment protections. And will look like a fool for the kicking and screaming (just like Daley as of late).

That said ... I wish he would see the writing on the wall, and just STFU.

Chicago has been a haven for gun control thinking for many decades. It is just ingrained in the mindset of so many people there. A couple of supreme court rulings have changed the legal landscape, but it will take years and years to change the mindset of Chicagoans on this issue. So ... in the short term at least, Rahm gets votes by talking gun control. Why wouldn't he talk about it?

I iknow i don't have to point this out to anyone here.....

just irks me that most people can't reason these false anti-gun claims and "stats" out.....

the cta bus stop slaying was:

Not carried out with an "assault weapon"

Not carried out with a newly purchased gun

Not carried out with five days or even weeks of a new gun purchase.

Not carried out by a person who could legally own a gun according to laws already on the books.

Liberal, feel-good gun laws do not save lives.

If you go to NRA news and click on the prgram guid you will see the dailey news section with Ginny and my name there.

They called me mid day to do a interview on Rahm and what we are seeing.

Not potentially prevented by an armed citizen.

I don't know when would be a good time to do this - but if we could drive the "banana republic tinpot dictator" theme we could use the symbol of the banana to create a good PR stunt.

Get people to mail his main campaign office bananas...

It is my understanding that Emanuel CAN"T run for mayor of Chicago because he did not live there for the year prior to the election. Am I wrong on this? Or am I right and Emanuel don't give a rip about that. I totally hate a politician that does not obide by the CONSTITUTION. Can you all here say REVOLUTION?

I understand your frustration, but I don't think the constitution has anything to do with this issue.

I think we have a good indication of how he will rule as mayor. He is already disregarding laws that don't suit him.

Does this sound familiar to anybody??

Or, as he sees it, laws that don't apply to him. He's part of the political elite. Laws shmaws.

This is another perfect indication of what I fear - For him, the mayor's office isn't about serving the city of Chicago. It's about gaining boatloads of personal power, operating without the oversight of any boss, and filling his coffers with taxpayer dollars. He's an ego-maniac, and knows full well that the mayor of Chicago is the perfect post for him to flex his political muscles.

There's no unselfish reason anyone, in their right mind, would leave a post as advisor to the POTUS to take a local political office.

...unless, maybe, that person felt the post might not be available in 2 years, while mayor of Chicago...................

But, that's not really an unselfish reason, is it!

Well, Bill Cameron on WLS just finished an interview with him. He stated he was proud that he fought to have the Brady Bill passed, and twice he bragged about how he has "stood up" to the NRA. In addition to being a social elitist, this guy is just a tool. He certainly doesn't suffer from any lack of confidence. I can see him walking into the mayors job. Hope I'm wrong, the fact that he brags about being anti 2A gives us a preview of what he will do.

"The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them" <- Why does this quote seem so Chicago! Rahm arrogantly believes it, I'm sure.
