Tvandermyde Posted January 5, 2010 at 03:15 AM Posted January 5, 2010 at 03:15 AM Thirdpower has found something here. He sent me an email about the new Joyce grants. Specifically: http://www.joycefdn.org/GrantList/GrantDet...x?grantId=32319 Thursday, December 10, 2009 Printable versionIllinois Council Against Handgun Violence Chicago, ILAmount: $350,000Length: 12 For continued support of its public, media, and policy-maker education efforts to promote firearm policy reform in Illinois, and to integrate the activities of the Illinois Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence into the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence Then upon looking at the other grants I noticed this: Thursday, December 10, 2009</SPAN> Freedom States Alliance</SPAN> Chicago, ILAmount: $115,000 Length: 6 To support its transition following a merger with States United to Prevent Gun Violence and its continued efforts on behalf of state gun violence prevention groups. So based upon these, it looks like there is some consolidation going on. LCAV is funded by Joyce. They came in and started the Illinois Campaign group here in Illinois. http://www.icpgv.org/ Now it looks like they will be merged with ICHV or vice versa. And we have Freedom States Allaince, you know the Karlin boys who run gunguys.com, 50calterror and those other BS websites will be folded into States United. Hmmmmm. Me thinks there is a bit of downsizing going on in the gun control groups. It this because of the economy? Is this because Joyce took a bath in the market? Is this simply a business decision to look at the return on their investment? Or is this the ghost of things to come has the Heller decision and soon to be McDonald sink in and they see the writing on the wall? Big hat tip to Thirdpower for looking at this and finding it.
Molly B. Posted January 5, 2010 at 03:29 AM Posted January 5, 2010 at 03:29 AM Oh, this could be sweet!
Thirdpower Posted January 5, 2010 at 04:23 AM Posted January 5, 2010 at 04:23 AM There are some other notables missing like WAVE. Joshie Sugarmann is also going to have to tighten his belt this year as they took a cut of $115K. http://daysofourtrailers.blogspot.com/2010...ling-pinch.html
Buzzard Posted January 5, 2010 at 04:37 AM Posted January 5, 2010 at 04:37 AM More and more liberal parasites are going to be forced to find a real job, instead of feeding off the Joyce Foundations' antigun funding.
THE KING Posted January 5, 2010 at 05:14 PM Posted January 5, 2010 at 05:14 PM How do you say TITANIC They're on it :lips sealed:
templar223 Posted January 5, 2010 at 06:38 PM Posted January 5, 2010 at 06:38 PM Grant size from Joyce to ICHV was same as last year. Merger is interesting. John
anonymous too Posted January 5, 2010 at 07:39 PM Posted January 5, 2010 at 07:39 PM Are gun control groups failing?????? I've said so for a few years.
PPK Posted January 5, 2010 at 08:11 PM Posted January 5, 2010 at 08:11 PM How do you say TITANIC They're on it :lips sealed:"The ship is not sinking. And I intend to go down with it."
GarandFan Posted January 5, 2010 at 09:49 PM Posted January 5, 2010 at 09:49 PM Interesting news. We shall see how they intend to spin the merger when they announce it. I suspect it's possible that they are rethinking their funding and strategies in anticipation of a post-McDonald world. I understand that gun control is one of the "pet issues" of some of the high-ups at Joyce. I doubt they are going to go away ... but the economic and legal situations have got to be weighing heavily on them. And that makes me happy. Most anytime the tyranny of rich elitist social engineers is diminished ... the better. I have come to view the Joyce as just that ... a small group of wealthy, entitlement-minded elites that are attempting to engineer social policy. Looking at their ties to collective-view 2A scholarship, this becomes particularly clear.
Gray Peterson Posted February 8, 2010 at 01:27 PM Posted February 8, 2010 at 01:27 PM Simply put, most of these anti-gun group fundings are from people who want to have British-style gun control, with gun confiscation and a 2A that isn't worth anything. When Heller happened, it destroyed that chance ever happening in the United States, and with McDonald coming down the pike, where it's very clear that SCOTUS will apply 2A strongly to the states, those "rich donors" would stop funding anti-gun activity in the United States.
