BushRat Posted June 19, 2008 at 11:04 PM Posted June 19, 2008 at 11:04 PM On my turf, I'll join the fight, no questions asked.
GarandFan Posted June 19, 2008 at 11:06 PM Posted June 19, 2008 at 11:06 PM People, this is as huge as it gets for Illinois and gun rights. Next to Washington, DC, Chicago has the strictest gun control laws in the nation. It is time to end the madness that is citizen disarmament. It is time to come out of the shadows. It is time to tell Chicago that enough is enough, and that they are not going to violate you any longer! Please ... this is the big one. Send this to everyone you know that might even be remotely interested. Print it up and drop it off at shooting ranges, sporting goods stores, gun shops, etc. Attend yourself!
RancidWannaRiot Posted June 19, 2008 at 11:41 PM Posted June 19, 2008 at 11:41 PM I cannot attend as that is my first week of work (first job fresh out of college too). However, you could donate $10 out of your first paycheck towards the expenses incurred in getting a world class speaker like Dr. Hupp!!!!!! That would be fitting!!!! Catch you next time. AB
Hossua Posted June 20, 2008 at 12:10 AM Posted June 20, 2008 at 12:10 AM I'm hoping I can be there. I won't be able to take off a full day from work and the time table is probably not gonna work =(. Gonna try to make it happen though.

AB The Thompson Center is literally 3 blocks east (across the Chicago River) from Union Station (the train station). It's also 3 blocks east of the Sears Tower ... tallest building in Chicago. Surely you folks can find THAT!!!

For those coming from farther away I suggest looking at some of the Amtrak lines as there are some with daily service.

It's also 3 blocks east of the Sears Tower ... tallest building in Chicago. Surely you folks can find THAT!!! Let's see GF, 3 blocks, would that be 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile?? Or 40 rod?? They got a rail there at that Tower that I can tie the horses up to??? Actually, at 8 blocks to the mile, (I think that's the Chicago standard) 3 blocks would 120 rod. AB Edited to add: Yes, I've been to the big city, and I realize that parking is at a premium both in availability and price. That's what I'm saying, as the time approaches, it would be very helpful to have a suggestion or two for lodging outside the city and public transportation to and from the Center. Maybe that would deserve a thread of it's own in a week or two!! AB again
Silver Guardian Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:08 AM Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:08 AM Damn, I'm going to be way out of town that day. I hope at least Heller gets decided before I take off. Ms. Hupp, the one who got me started, damn.

Yeah, I can just imagine the fine for littering that would inspire!!!! But, the CPD does use some mounted officers, don't they?? Or have they all gone to bikes??
Lou Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:18 AM Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:18 AM I'll be there! I will push GSL/CCRA to get their membears up there! Coach - I'll be right there with ya!! THIS WILL BE A CELEBRATION OF OUR SECOND AMENDMENT FREEDOMS AS SUPPORTED BY THE SUPREME COURT!! BE THERE!!!!!!!!! Parking in downtown Chicago is scarce and expensive. Plan in $25-30 for just 2-3 hours. I plan on taking a Metra train in. Parking in the outer suburbs and taking the train is not a bad idea. As we get closer I'm sure we can post locations and train costs.
anonymous too Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:18 AM Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:18 AM You are going to pay a small fortune for that privilege. About $20-$25 if I remember correctly. Unfortunately I'll be at the state sporting clays shoot Fri, Sat, and Sun at the Northbrook Sportsman's Club.
GlockShooter Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:23 AM Author Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:23 AM I believe they still have some horses, but mostly they use bikes and four-wheelers.

Paul Kirsey Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:28 AM Posted June 20, 2008 at 03:28 AM I'm going to plan to be there. Should I contact the networks on the outside chance we can get some exposure?

I have a feeling that there will be plenty of coverage. I don't have a lot of warm fuzzy feelings that it will all be positive but at least we'll get equal time with Fadder Snuffy and Rev Jackson.
