chip Posted February 14, 2016 at 03:10 PM Posted February 14, 2016 at 03:10 PM Thanks to a friend, my wife and I discovered Granite City in Rockford. It was a great place to go after Pine Tree Pistol Club. When we found one close to us in Schaumburg, it became our "date night" place to go. I'm not a beer drinker, but they have awesome steaks at a reasonable price and tasty home-made kettle chips. In October of 2015, the general manager posted as Firearms Prohibited. A friend and I spoke to him at length and found out that he was an unwavering idiot. One of the reasons he gave for posting was because of a nephew of his who was involved in a gun related crime. He also noted that he didn't trust the police with guns. NOTE-no other Granite City in the USA is posted. Fast forward to last month, his employment was terminated. Waiting for a replacement, my wife would stop by on occasion to meet the new GM. Last night was the night. We politely stated our case (essentially that the sign only stops some of his best patrons). The GM said he'd take it down as long as it's not corporate policy. About 15 minutes later, to my total surprise, he said the sign was down. He had texted his district manager and confirmed that no other Granite City's are posted. Please stop by sometime, welcome Mark to the neighborhood, and thank him for being a great and reasonable neighbor. - chip

solareclipse2 Posted February 14, 2016 at 05:46 PM Posted February 14, 2016 at 05:46 PM Bravo. If only we could get Rock Bottom brewery to take theirs down too.
soylentgreen Posted February 15, 2016 at 06:35 PM Posted February 15, 2016 at 06:35 PM Nice. Very nice. Not sure what CCL holders have to do with the "gun-related crime" that the former manager was referring to. It comes down to superstition and hysteria surrounding guns in the minds of some people.
