speedbump Posted June 24, 2018 at 06:09 PM Posted June 24, 2018 at 06:09 PM For when a county board resolution won't quite be thorough enough: https://thesouthern.com/news/local/williamson-county-to-let-voters-decide-whether-it-should-be/article_d3d0ce36-98f1-5bec-90f4-6c7c8094fa3a.html?utm_content=buffer50770&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=LEEDCC#tracking-source=home-the-latest
speedbump Posted June 28, 2018 at 03:13 AM Author Posted June 28, 2018 at 03:13 AM Note: Williamson County has a three member commission, currently 2 Republican and one Democrat. They have no plans for a vote by themselves on a resolution, they are going straight to a ballot referendum in November.
InterestedBystander Posted June 28, 2018 at 03:20 AM Posted June 28, 2018 at 03:20 AM Madison County is doing the same https://www.bnd.com/news/local/article213536284.html
speedbump Posted June 28, 2018 at 04:59 AM Author Posted June 28, 2018 at 04:59 AM "We're in danger of destroying the basic fabrics of a representative democracy by saying we can decide what's constitutional or what isn't," Malone said. "I'm not opposed to this because it's about guns, but because I think it violates the principles of what I think our country is founded on." Note to Mr. Madison County doofus, our country was founded as a Constitutional REPUBLIC, not a 'representative Democracy.' Here's a quick civics test: How many times, total, is the term "democracy" mentioned in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution? Answer: ZERO. The man should READ the Constitution before he tries to tell us what's in it and how it affects us. :/
Bitter Clinger Posted June 28, 2018 at 06:42 PM Posted June 28, 2018 at 06:42 PM Yeah, I'm really getting sick of liberals constantly calling our country a "democracy". Not sure why that irks me so much. But they actually believe it is.
powderhead Posted July 4, 2018 at 05:59 PM Posted July 4, 2018 at 05:59 PM And to think it used to be known as,"Bloody Williamson County." If you ever get the chance, read the book by that title.
speedbump Posted July 5, 2018 at 02:21 AM Author Posted July 5, 2018 at 02:21 AM ^^^The first aerial bombing in the U.S. occurred here. A biplane flew over a competing speakeasy east of the village of Crab Orchard and dropped dynamite on a competing gang.
