gtguard Posted May 1, 2015 at 02:02 PM Posted May 1, 2015 at 02:02 PM Hi, What exactly does this Bill mean for us SBR lovers? Could someone explain it for me? Thank you.
spec5 Posted May 1, 2015 at 03:03 PM Posted May 1, 2015 at 03:03 PM Here is the Bill. As far as the explanation of what you read in the attached I will leave that to others. It was also sent back to Rules so is it then dead? http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?DocNum=3994&GAID=13&DocTypeID=HB&LegId=90211&SessionID=88&GA=99
gtguard Posted May 1, 2015 at 04:10 PM Author Posted May 1, 2015 at 04:10 PM It looks to me that they are just "cleaning" up the existing law. They had 7 A; or B; or C. Now it will go 7 A; B; or C.(7) A person possessing a rifle with a barrel orbarrels less than 16 inches in length if the overall lengthof the weapon as modified is less than 26 inches and: (A) the person purchasing or possessing such arifle has been issued a Curios and Relics license fromthe U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms andExplosives; or ( the person purchasing or possessing such arifle is an active member of a bona fide, nationallyrecognized military re-enacting group and themodification is required and necessary to accuratelyportray the weapon for historical re-enactmentpurposes; the re-enactor is in possession of a validand current re-enacting group membership credential;or ( C ) the person selling, manufacturing, purchasing,or possessing such a rifle has been issued a Dealer inFirearms Other Than Destructive Devices license or aManufacturer of Firearms Other Than DestructiveDevices license from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol,Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the overalllength of the weapon as modified is not less than 26inches.
Hatchet Posted May 1, 2015 at 05:18 PM Posted May 1, 2015 at 05:18 PM Wouldn't that have fixed the Trust issue?
Tvandermyde Posted May 1, 2015 at 11:31 PM Posted May 1, 2015 at 11:31 PM this bill was written by RatWorx up north. ATF has taken the position that there can be no class 3 dealers per state law. Only o7 manufacturers can deal in SBRs. It also fixes the over length on things like scorpions
70Chevellefan Posted May 2, 2015 at 05:57 PM Posted May 2, 2015 at 05:57 PM I posted this topic and apologize for the redundancys however when I read this it States that you can conform to section a or B or C and you will be fine to own an SBR with a curio license however by omitting the "or" it looks like it reads now that you have to conform to a and B or C
wmjlar15 Posted May 3, 2015 at 01:52 PM Posted May 3, 2015 at 01:52 PM Can we add the word shotgun in there under this. a rifle or shotgun with a barrel orbarrels less than 16 inches in length if the overall lengthof the weapon as modified is less than 26 inches and:
Tvandermyde Posted May 3, 2015 at 03:54 PM Posted May 3, 2015 at 03:54 PM shotguns have a different barrel length. one thing at a time and now suppressors is the big push.
Talonap Posted May 3, 2015 at 04:46 PM Posted May 3, 2015 at 04:46 PM shotguns have a different barrel length. one thing at a time and now suppressors is the big push. But shotguns are cheaper!
