Any restrictions on pump shotguns?

Wondering if I'm correct in thinking that there are not many restrictions against pump shotguns? I mean things like capacity, barrel length,( Under 18"?), etc. The only info I can find is for semi-auto. Any help will be appreciated. Used to know all this stuff, but forgot. I'm in Crook County, BTW.

If you live in a home-rule community then you will revert to their laws, not Cook County.

Thanks. Not in a Home Rule place ... I don't think anyone rules here - except the drug dealers.

Per Cook County Ordinance Div. 4, Sec. 54-211 (Blair Holt Assault Weapon Ban), part of definition of Assault Weapon:

4) A semiautomatic shotgun that has one or more of the following:

(A) Only a pistol grip without a stock attached;

(B) Any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand;

(C) A folding, telescoping or thumbhole stock;

(D) A fixed magazine capacity in excess of five rounds;

(E) An ability to accept a detachable magazine; or

(F) A grenade, flare or rocket launcher.

(5) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Not specifically on a pump, but per U.S. Code Title 18, Chapter 921 (a) (6) definition ... no short barreled shotgun with barrel length less than 16".

It's 18" for shotguns. 16" is for rifles.

Thanks for the info. Anything specific for shell capacity? Been looking at the Maverick 88 20" barrel I think 7+1 rounds. Of course this is for the future, when they are actually available in the $200 or so range again. (And even actually available again.) 😃

There are some municipalities that have limits for semi-auto shotguns, not limited to detachable box magazines, but I don't believe any have limits for pumps.

The problem, as always, is that some online retailers look at any restrictions and then choose not to sell anything into those jurisdictions.

The cheapest I've ever seen 20" 88s is like $198, so I doubt we'll ever see sub-$200 again.

Meanwhile ...

Midway: one "Special Purpose" in stock $231 (get it before it's gone)

Northwest Armory: Cruiser in stock $220

... if those are close enough to $200 for you.
