Federal Farmer Posted August 25, 2010 at 11:46 PM Posted August 25, 2010 at 11:46 PM 7th Circuit appeals (Easterbrook, Posner, Bauer) officially remand and dismiss the case as moot following Chicago and Oak Park's repeal of their ordinances. JUDGMENT_082510.pdfORDER_082510.pdf
Sigma Posted August 25, 2010 at 11:54 PM Posted August 25, 2010 at 11:54 PM I think it sbogus because they still have not complied with the order. (Appellants (McDonald and NRA) recover costs) does that mean Daley has to pay a suit amount or they have to pay the lawyer fees?

They have to pay the McDonald lawyer fees, which for civil rights cases is going hourly rate * 2. Of course Chicago could try to fight it and incur even more legal fees in the process.

Waste....waste....and more waste.
Drylok Posted August 26, 2010 at 12:41 AM Posted August 26, 2010 at 12:41 AM Will the case about the ordinance, fees, training and all that to keep a handgun in Chicago make it to the 7th and then to SCOTUS and then back to 7th before our pre-empt carry law comes into affect Jan 2012? What happens if it doesn't or does it matter? Lord I wish we had a 6-3 court with a set of balls

If we had that we'd probably spend more time in the "Back Room" and "Gear" Forums instead of Illinois and National Politics!
Don Gwinn Posted August 26, 2010 at 05:26 AM Posted August 26, 2010 at 05:26 AM I'm glad it's officially done. I've heard a rumor that some of the plaintiffs have been itching to go out and start making public pronouncements.

If we had that we'd probably spend more time in the "Back Room" and "Gear" Forums instead of Illinois and National Politics! I wouldn't complain about that. This site might be a bit more like a ghost town if Illinois ever wised up and completely respected the 2nd amendment, as does Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont. However, I'd be willing to make that sacrifice. There'd still be plenty to talk about in the Back Room, such as "where's a good target shooting event this weekend"... But that's just dreaming...
