SoupOrMan Posted February 9, 2011 at 09:43 PM Share Posted February 9, 2011 at 09:43 PM I sent mine in on Nov. 4, didn't get it until Jan. 5. The FOID crew sounds like they're understaffed, too. I had a 90-minute wait to reach a FOID clerk when I called their office. And that was calling in at 8:30am...
Blacksmith58 Posted February 9, 2011 at 11:21 PM Share Posted February 9, 2011 at 11:21 PM I mailed my renewal FOID Application in on January 8, 2011. Received my FOID Card on January 31, 2011!!! That was a 23 day turn arround!! I was impressed and shocked at the same time!
lieut89 Posted February 10, 2011 at 12:08 PM Share Posted February 10, 2011 at 12:08 PM The turnaround from the time the checks posted was 10 days for my wife and 26 days for my son. Both first time issues. The checks posted on Jan, 10th and they both have their cards in hand.
Drylok Posted February 10, 2011 at 02:08 PM Share Posted February 10, 2011 at 02:08 PM I just got word back on my buddies foid. It will be here in 7 days, they didn't file it until Dec 18th. He dropped it in the mail on the way up here to hunt with us opening day of duck season this year. That was the weekend of Halloween.
RandyP Posted February 10, 2011 at 02:19 PM Share Posted February 10, 2011 at 02:19 PM On a related note, the local west suburban crime lab is closed due to lack of funding from the State. DNA tests can typically take a year unless it is a homicide. This came out following today's news about those two west suburban kids who were in that car crash last year in which one (local football hero) died and the other was in the hospital for two months. Turns out now that an hour before the crash they were both busy raping a 15 year old fellow student in a church parking lot. She immediately reported the crime but the DNA results didn't come back until just now to warrant an arrest of the survivor of the crash. Since the State has no funds for basic services like police labs, do you really think they will over-staff the FOID Department to meet that loose 30 day FOID requirement? Illinois is in the financial toilet almost beyond comprehension.
jlowrie Posted March 18, 2012 at 02:25 PM Share Posted March 18, 2012 at 02:25 PM I've been waiting on my renewal since late January. FOID law needs to go.
kurt555gs Posted March 18, 2012 at 03:06 PM Share Posted March 18, 2012 at 03:06 PM Here is a novel idea. If the state can't complete it's "investigation" in less than 30 days, it must issue the FOID card regardless. Problem solved. * Carthago delenda est *
