Smokewagon Posted March 14, 2008 at 04:57 PM Posted March 14, 2008 at 04:57 PM Any of these in the area shops there? If so, how is the pricing? Going to my dealer after lunch to see if they have come in yet. He's got them on order, but won't say what he'll charge til they get here. I think they will make great summer carry guns.
anonymous too Posted March 14, 2008 at 07:28 PM Posted March 14, 2008 at 07:28 PM We have one on display, but not for sale at the moment. They're tiny! Don't remember the price, but it's a Ruger. It'll be very affordable.
ishmo Posted March 14, 2008 at 11:13 PM Posted March 14, 2008 at 11:13 PM According to the Ruger site they're supposed to be available "mid March" and I read somewhere Ruger's MSRP was $330. Here's a link with some more info and some comments, pro and con http://www.downrange.tv/shotshow2008/?p=11
anonymous too Posted March 15, 2008 at 04:17 AM Posted March 15, 2008 at 04:17 AM I got to shoot one Friday evening. The Ruger rep was at the store when I was setting up for class and he had one for us to shoot. We will be selling them for $299.99. We have one on display, but it is not for sale at this time. It is really tiny and it has more muzzle flip than I expected for a .380. Also, the slide does not lock back on an empty mag, but that is common for semi-auto's of that size. The tiny slide catch is recessed and was not easy to lock the slide back for me. The double action trigger isn't too heavy, but it's got a very long travel before it breaks. I think it was a grip issue, but I couldn't hit the center of the target consistently. Made a tight group the size of a quarter at 1 o'clock at 15'.
GlockShooter Posted March 15, 2008 at 06:04 PM Posted March 15, 2008 at 06:04 PM Just an FYI. This could be a freak occurrence, but it's interesting reading: Link
RandyP Posted March 15, 2008 at 08:44 PM Posted March 15, 2008 at 08:44 PM I don't have the LCP but DO own and shoot the KelTec P3AT that Ruger so ably copied. Dry firing the KelTec WITHOUT using a snap-cap is expressly verbottten. Not a slam against the KT or the Ruger in this regard. My CZ 52 carries the same warning, NO dry firing or you WILL damage the firing pin. This owner dry fired his LCP nearly 100 times! That would work out to roughly 100 times too many IMHO. Not a gun problem, more an issue of the thing attached to the firing finger?
ishmo Posted March 15, 2008 at 09:56 PM Posted March 15, 2008 at 09:56 PM Have to agree with you there. Usually when something mechanical fails the cause can be traced to the skill or intelligence of the operator, you can't engineer out stupidity. Not a gun problem, more an issue of the thing attached to the firing finger?
GlockShooter Posted March 16, 2008 at 01:57 AM Posted March 16, 2008 at 01:57 AM Like I said, it's just an FYI, even if the "I" is "don't dry fire the gun".
