Yas Posted August 16, 2010 at 04:09 PM Posted August 16, 2010 at 04:09 PM Linky Thursday, August 5th, 2010 4:00 amAndrew Traver, head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives’ Chicago office, is in the running to direct the agency, reports the Washington Post. Traver could end up being the irst-ever Senate-confirmed ATF director. The position had been filled (at the Treasury Department and more recently at Justice) without Senate input. Since it became Senate-confirmable in 2006, no one has made it past the watchful eyes of the gun lobby. More at link Any have any dealings with this guy? Todd ... Anyone? Sorry if this is old news.

Try this for a summary: http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2010/07/no-wonder-mayor-daley-has-been-wearing.html Yes, it's as bad as you think. Excerpt: So let's sum up: Traver has been an ATF agent for 23 years, starting out as an entry-level jack-booted thug ("an original member of the Entry Control Team, forerunner of the Special Response Teams"). Since then, he has risen through the agency hierarchy, all the while making friends of notorious Illinois anti-firearm rights politicians of both parties. He has had personal friendly contact with Barack Obama and Hizzonor, the King of Chicago Richard Daley. He has worked with the virulently anti-firearm Joyce Foundation and the IACP, putting his efforts and his name to a report which calls for more firearm bans and regulations that amount to the gutting of the Second Amendment. Traver is, then, an extremely politically well-connected, anti-firearm, pro-citizen-disarmament zealot. He may be a nice guy, but he is an enemy of the Founders' Republic and the Constitution they wrote.
pyre400 Posted August 16, 2010 at 04:29 PM Posted August 16, 2010 at 04:29 PM Yea... This "aint a good thing", and is sure to cause lots of noise and distraction - as I'm sure that is what the administration intends to do.
moparcardave Posted August 16, 2010 at 06:26 PM Posted August 16, 2010 at 06:26 PM How come this guy reminds me of the Gestopo? Two peas in a pod, am sure a glad I don't claim this state home any longer.

Ol'Coach Posted August 19, 2010 at 09:06 PM Posted August 19, 2010 at 09:06 PM Another Chicago lackey in the mix!
Xwing Posted August 20, 2010 at 06:44 PM Posted August 20, 2010 at 06:44 PM How many anti-constitution thugs can Obama get into power? Evidently a lot. Hopefully we can hold the line on this one.
GarandFan Posted August 20, 2010 at 07:17 PM Posted August 20, 2010 at 07:17 PM Yes, it's as bad as you think. Or, at least as bad as Vanderbough thinks. ;-)

It sounds like you are in disagreement with Vanderbough, yet his comments are documented. Are you saying you don't have a problem with a documented "anti" heading up the ATF?
Ol'Coach Posted August 21, 2010 at 02:47 PM Posted August 21, 2010 at 02:47 PM Isn't it amazing (maybe not) how most, if not all things anti, lead to the Joyce Foundation?

It's easy to see the similarities.Just found this, from here http://www.ticklethe...to-head-agency/ A source has told ticklethewire.com that two members of Congress from Illinois have written letters of recommendation to the White House on behalf of Traver, who has expressed an intense interest in the job. "He's an experienced special agent with more than 20 years," former ATF official James Cavanaugh, who recently retired after 33 1/2 years with the agency, told ticklethewire.com. "He's a good leader. He's quiet. He's strong. He certainly has the battle scars of law enforcement and law enforcement command." "I think he would be a good pick because he's not a political person." ;)

Mac Posted September 13, 2010 at 03:44 PM Posted September 13, 2010 at 03:44 PM I wish there could be politicians chozen from other places besides Chicago. I do not know Why Obama has to pick his administration from the Chicago thugs. Are there any HONEST politicians any where else?
Xwing Posted September 23, 2010 at 03:10 PM Posted September 23, 2010 at 03:10 PM I do not know Why Obama has to pick his administration from the Chicago thugs. Are there any HONEST politicians any where else? I know why. Obama is an authoritarian, anti-Constitution, anti-freedom, socialist thug. Of course all his picks are the same way. I can't even think of one example of Obama supporting a decent person's elevation in government. He believes he controls the lives of everyone in this country, so of course he'll pick similar people... Honest politicians need not apply, in his administration.
