I was looking thru my backup drive, I found some pics of my SKS I was playing around with for awhile. I always liked that rifle, since its so easy to work on.

Its a Russian from 1950.

Bando is chinese I believe. I keep them loaded with FMJ.

I replaced the rear site with a scope mount that attaches to it, and put a aimpoint on the rifle. I am thinking of removing the aimpoint, and putting on a scout type 3X fixed on there.

Anyone else dig those commie rifles?

Mailed my C&R app. 9/24, check was cashed 9/30.

First purchase I plan on making with it is a Yugo SKS. For some odd reason I just love the look of the grenade launcher on it.

bought an unissued yugo back in 2003 for $160....needless to say that rifle is not leaving the collection. BTW I leave the commie rifles bone stock. I have never had any luck modifying them and they just seem to shoot better the way they were made.

Dang man, wish I knew you were looking for a Yugo.I got one and am trying to figure out how to get the launcher off of it without ruining it.I don't care for that look;would much rather have a Russian,or Chinese.

I dont think that GL is comming off.....most of them are silver soldered on and I think they may even be LH threads......about the only thing I have heard that works is cutting it off and re-crowning it. I had another one one time that I took the GL flip up sight off and it helped streamline it but it is kind of a predicament but for such a good milsurp I just live with it.

I love mine. They cannot be imported anymore and only a handful got in before Bubba's import ban went into affect.

It is a cut down SKS mated with AK47 lower components. The thumb hole stock is one of the best and strongest stocks I have ever seen. I was going to change it but it fits so well I am never going to mess with it. This a internet pic. I put black skateboard tape on the pistol grip and for grip.

I got my Excellent condition 59/66 from AIM for something like $90 in 2004. I really wish I'd bought more than one...

I plan on getting one unissued, as well. Unfortunately all the ones I have found are about double that price.

These days you cant find an unissued......it was the bet 160 bucks I have ever spent. I probobly have well over 3000 rds through it and its still rockin..I did however have to have a machinist friend make me a new stainless steel gas port because the factory ones are flaky.

all the ones that are un-issued that I have seen have been through heck and back and honestly most of them have cycling issues (primarily from the gas port).

Is that really lavender? Or is the light playing tricks? (I kind of hope it's real - I like it!)

That is the real color, no light tricks there.

It is sitting in a gun store right now waiting to be sold. If you want it you better jump on it.
