GarandFan Posted September 24, 2010 at 10:45 PM Posted September 24, 2010 at 10:45 PM My link Last year, I utilized my first opportunity as the Cook County State's Attorney to testify before the Illinois General Assembly in favor of a bill that addressed this very issue. If approved, House Bill 845 would have required firearms owners to report any lost or stolen weapons to their local law enforcement agency within 72 hours after discovering the theft. While the bill failed in the wake of strong opposition from the National Rifle Association, we intend to revisit this legislation and continue to push for its passage.
Nomad Posted September 24, 2010 at 11:31 PM Posted September 24, 2010 at 11:31 PM I despise Anita. She has no respect for a woman's right to personal defense, which is very disturbing as Anita is a woman herself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEyzWI9oLck
Lou Posted September 24, 2010 at 11:58 PM Posted September 24, 2010 at 11:58 PM I really feel it is good when people like this have to answer actual questions on the record and they display their ignorance. These politician has no concept of the real world. Answers like hers just make our case for "reasonable gun laws." Quoting her interview: "I don't think people should own guns" She said it: she should be banned from any office which requires someone to swear an oath to uphold the Constitution. Obviously she does not believe in it.
PPK Posted September 25, 2010 at 02:10 AM Posted September 25, 2010 at 02:10 AM What about full-auto weapons stolen from the police? It was a very quick Google search that found this article but I'm sure there are plenty more of them out there.

Sigma Posted September 25, 2010 at 01:37 PM Posted September 25, 2010 at 01:37 PM There is a rumor that she may run for mayor. That may help the state out as she wont be in the way when CCW comes

That may help the state out as she wont be in the way when CCW comes I don't understand what you mean. As mayor, she would actively oppose CCW all the way to kingdom come. Please clarify.

As states attorney she has much direct influence over how events are litigated etc for the entire state. As a mayor she would only have influence over the city, at least initially. Daley worked to get so much power. It doesn't just come with te office.

GarandFan Posted September 26, 2010 at 04:49 PM Author Posted September 26, 2010 at 04:49 PM I am pretty sure this is a subtle endorsement of Quinn for Governor. While maddening and insulting to those of us who value our second amendment, her opinion comes as little surprise. Alvarez doesn't pull any punches in her support for gun control. She never has, and why should she? ... her electorate generally agrees with her. This remains, and always will remain, a hearts-and-minds issue. In the long term, there are many hearts and minds to win over in Cook county. In the short term, there are some hearts and minds to replace in the legislative and executive branches of IL government.
PPK Posted September 26, 2010 at 05:28 PM Posted September 26, 2010 at 05:28 PM I despise Anita. She has no respect for a woman's right to personal defense, which is very disturbing as Anita is a woman herself. The interviewer did a pretty good job. He was sooooo close to asking her point blank, "So would you rather see someone die than defend theirself with a handgun?" Her pat answer of, "I don't think anyone should own a firearm" doesn't answer the question.
Xwing Posted September 29, 2010 at 04:42 PM Posted September 29, 2010 at 04:42 PM She walks in goose-step to the rest of the Daley regime.
