What can we do to resurrect it from the dead? Anything?

All you can do at this point is write or call Ramey and ask him to reintroduce the bill next time. Of course Ramey isn't the only one who can file the bill.

It made it through second reading, several notes filed that were returned, then the sponsors felt that they didn't have the votes to pass it so they didn't call it for third reading. As it affects Home Rule ordinances, it will require a 3/5 majority vote.

If the sponsors feel that they have support, they'll reintroduce it when the legislature re-convenes in January.

Stick around. When the Legislature fires back up in Jan, you'll see what we can do to encourage or discourage certain legislation. For now, get your local legislators phone and fax numbers in your speed dial, get their e-mails in your address book, make personal contact with them if possible to begin a relationship building process. All of them are in campaign mode now until Feb 2.

Guys read the whole status board. This was the Cook County preemption bill.

We called it for a vote, and came within 4 votes of a super-majority. Since we didn't want out super-majoity roll call on the board for the other side to see, we dumped the roll call and put it on postponed consideration.

We are working on it, McDonald just might de-nut cook county but we'll have to wait and see.
