auxdeputy Posted September 4, 2010 at 01:21 AM Posted September 4, 2010 at 01:21 AM The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department to Host Firearm Safety Class The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department will host an NRA FIRST Steps Pistol firearm safety course on Sunday, October 3, 2010 from 10 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. The course will be taught by deputies who are NRA Certified Instructors and will cover the basics of safe gun handling and shooting. The course will be held at the Cahokia Police Department Training room. The course will emphasize the safe and proper handling and use of pistols. Participants will learn about firearm safety, parts and operation, shooting fundamentals, care and cleaning, storage options, firearm selection, and more. Pre-registration is required. We couldn't do this without the support of Sheriff Justus, Chief Watson (Cahokia PD) and the Cahokia FOP (for the use of their range). If it's successful we plan to expand our course offerings next year.
