SAFR - Second Amendment Freedom Rally - Chicago!

Second Amendment supporters will be coming from all over the state to celebrate the first anniversary of U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the DC vs Heller case. This historical ruling finally and firmly rules the right to keep and bear arms is an INDIVIDUAL right. Since that ruling several Illinois cities have dropped their ban on handgun ownership - Evanston, Wilmette, and Morton Grove which was the first city in Illinois to ban handguns. Oak Park and Chicago however still continue to deny their citizens this constitutional right.

We invite all who support the Second Amendment to join us in the heart of Chicago where law abiding citizens are still denied the right to own a handgun for personal protection.

Ok maybe I have a calender virus or something but isn't June the 16th a Tuesday? Molly, did you mean the 26th?

I think Valinda hit the 1 key on accident.

It should read 26th.

Is this a facebook event yet? Great way to get the word out.

I'll make it, I'm the IC admin group on there.

Here it is, all members of the Illinois Carry Facebook Group have been invited as well:

How much does it cost to promote with an ad on facebook? If its not too much maybe we could raise some cash. I'd pitch in $20 for an ad.

You know what the only good thing is about having liberals running my place of employment? Fridays off in the summer to conserve energy and reduce global warming means I don't have to take a day off for the Second Amendment Freedom Rally! Thank you, Al Gore, for your infinite yelling, sweating, face turning red, and warning us about manbearpig.

I was there last year. This year it is on my 16th wedding anniversary. My wife is a teacher so she is off summers, I also have the day off. I would still like to be married on the 27th so this year I will probably have to miss the occasion unless I can convince her to make a day of it in the belly of the beast.

I was going to suggest you make a day of it, visit the museum, go to a nice dinner. Last I went, teachers get free admission to the museums if they bring their school id or union card, call and check!

I had an EXCELLENT time @ last year's SAFR. I got to meet a LOT of Illinois Carry peeps. I will be there this year for sure. I also plan on trying harder to get as many like-minded folks to come with.

I will be there as I was last year. It was a great time and there was plenty of support from the people around us. The next step after this is to help out and get the anti 2nd amendment Pols out of office as soon as possible. These Chicago elections are decided by less that 30% of the people normally. We need to make that 30% pro 2nd amendment people. See you there. :headbang1:

I always said the Taste of Chicago would be a good event to build off of.

We should get a tent for the event. Could reach 10s of thousands from something like that.

Or just the 4th weekend with a tent would be a big step.

Sounds like WONDERFUL idea!!!

You get the permit, the space and the required insurance to satisfy Der Furor Daley and I'll be happy to man the tent for 8 hours of your choosing.

You Go C-Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been mentioning it to people I never thought to before. I've gotten 3 more people to come just by mentioning it to my friends' relatives! Invite people on facebook too! I've gotten a few people to attend by posting the link on facebook pages of politicians and local radio personalities. I keep getting messages asking what it is because they've never heard of it, but want to attend. I'll see if the owners of Hog Wild in Midlothian will put some fliers up too. Use every outlet available. If we each get a few more people it'll really add up!

That is a good idea, I will check into that. I have a ride after I get to the city so that might very well be a good way to go.

Thank You Kindly,

Topper
