Elmer Fudd Posted April 3, 2014 at 07:53 PM Share Posted April 3, 2014 at 07:53 PM Has anyone become aware of whether the Illinois State Police have a person that is designated as an Omsbudsperson or Problem Resolution Officer. similar to what the Attorney General, Dept. of Children and Family Services, and Office of Long Term Care have? Having spent a half day digging, it is absolutely unclear who the point of contact within ISP is designated as if something doesn't work the way is is supposed to. [i am ducking to watch the sarcastic comments that are going to come back, however there doesn't seem to be an answer here]. Any thoughts appreciated. vultar Posted April 3, 2014 at 08:17 PM Share Posted April 3, 2014 at 08:17 PM They did publish the name of the person who heads up that department. I will have to look to see if I can find it. Perhaps they could direct you better. Maybe you could also contact Msgt Tony McClure who is I believe in charge of the FOID program and maybe he could give you some help? The process continues.
Prairie Pucker Posted April 5, 2014 at 08:31 PM Share Posted April 5, 2014 at 08:31 PM I think it's a stretch to think that anyone in the ISP will advocate for us. This is the organization that put on the dog-and-pony show for the media in early March to brag about how well they were doing. 5000 licenses approved, both with and without prints, and in way less than 90/120. Then right after flipped off the approval switch for no print apps. After that stunt I trust nothing the ISP says.
Elmer Fudd Posted April 5, 2014 at 08:46 PM Author Share Posted April 5, 2014 at 08:46 PM While I understand your frustration with the permit process I am asking a different yet very specific question. There are administrative provisions in many of the enabling statutes for Illinois agencies that mandate that an Ombudsperson or Advocate be appointed to assist in the resolution of citizen issues. The Depts. of Children & Family Services, Aging, Long Term Care, Revenue, and the Attorney General have such a function. Since there are a number of other agencies that have the function that was the basis for the question.
