LaSalle County CCL by Zip Code

I live in Streator, which is at the top of that list. Elmer, as much as I'd like to think the opposite, if I had to guess I'd say that they probably do have addresses as well. Whether they're supposed to keep records like that or not doesn't seem to matter anymore

I'm not surprised that this data is easily available since I work in the public schools, which is funded by tax dollars, and can be easily FOIA. However, Elmer has a good point, if they can get the zip code data, what is stopping someone from FOIA specific addresses? What is stopping the AG, who I presume is anti-2nd A & anti-CCL, or the ISP from releasing the data? Regardless, we have a long way to go and we need to continue to fight the good fight.

Kach- did you see the comment that was posted? That poster has a somewhat valid point, Streator has the presumption of having a crime/drug problem. I live in Bureau County, I was raised in Marseilles, but Streator does have a poor reputation, whether right or wrong. Like most who "know" the area, we all hear the rumors. Only those who live in Streator can, and should, speak up against the current view of their city. I'd like to hear what you think. I'm open to a change of mind about Streator.

David I did see that comment. I know the reputation Streator has to the surrounding communities but I'm not sure it's all deserved. Don't get me wrong I know we have crime just like any other town. I don't have any specific data or anything like that but it doesn't really seem to me like we have any more than other cities around here. From what I've seen it seems to be mostly fights at bars and things like that that has earned us this reputation. We do have some violent crime here every once in a while but for the most part I don't think it's random, I think it's most domestic issues or transplants from bigger cities to the north. As I get older I tend to stay out of the bar scene these days but I know that when I did go out I'd see a lot of times where a person or a group of people from another town would come into a bar and not long later they'd be either leaving or fighting. I'm not saying it's right at all, it's just how it is (or at least was). It's a small town and everybody knows if you're not from here and they think it's cool or whatever to pick fights with out of towners. I will say that I've never felt unsafe here and that there's not a street or a part of town that I'd be afraid to walk down alone. Like I said, being from here I don't really feel like the reputation is deserved. But at the same time I know how people talk and how things sometimes get exaggerated so when I here people say things like that i understand.

Kach- thanks for your insight on Streator. I don't know anyone from there so all I know are the rumors. I've driven through there several times recently and it looks like your everyday town. It can't be that bad since you all are experiencing new business growth on the north edge of town on Rt. 23.

Marie- thanks for that info, I was unaware of that.
