Courtney Cox No Longer Federal District Atty in Southern Illinois

I don't think I have ever met Courtney Cox and I am not sure how he votes but I have been following his actions in the many areas in which he has been involved over the years and he is a straight shooter. No "good ol' boys" politics for him!!!! He follows the laws when a judicial actor and he has tried to be a responsible representative of the citizens and taxpayers when he found himselve on boards and such. If he were a cop he would be a "peace officer" as opposed to the "law enforcement officer" that has become so common in these most recent years. He would consider a day without an arrest or citation as a successful day while being tough as nails on those people who are making the community less safe.

 

Now, we have an appointee replacing him that I know nothing about other than he is from the Madison County/East St. Louis area and was selected by President Obama. I am sure that the new appointee could be no better than Mr. Cox and given recent history I fear that he will not be finding any need to press charges against some people due to their political situation and/or color. I hope I am wrong.

I have met Courtney Cox, and I fully agree with your assessment of his character. I sincerely believe that he took the position three years ago because he truly wanted to clean up corruption and make communities safer places to live and not because he wanted to revel in the prestige of the office or to use it as a political stepping stone.

 

I have not met his replacement, but I have heard from many folks who believe that he is cut from the same cloth. Of course, only time will tell, but I am hopeful that he will be an equal-opportunity prosecutor.

Was Mr. Cox "relieved" of his duties or did he retire??

 

There's no doubt what type of person Obabma appointed.

My information doesn't give a reason for the change, but since the U.S. Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President, I can only guess that Obama just simply wanted his appointee in that slot. You may recall when Clinton just simply cleaned house and fired all the U.S. Attorney when he first came to Office and the uproar when G.W. Bush wanted to replace a few and add some of his appointees. I think the Bush was said to have been partisan, racist, etc. Strangely, we don't hear any negative outcrys when Obama does it -- well, except here in the wilderness where trees don't even make sound when they fall.

 

(P.S. When I did a google search for info on this topic the first item of info was this topic on Illinois Carry that I had just posted. When I am able to be listed as a "source" on google that makes me very wary of the other sources of information. Perpaps they are equally uninformed or maybe they could be purposefully spreading false information.) Hmmmmm
