Hardly; I was merely holding the torch while you were out of action.

Welcome back. I'm glad you were able to return under such fortunate circumstances.

I'm calling the Rules committee members and asking them to put to the House or Senate SB2963 FOID act repeal, and HB2567 Concealed Carry Permits. Both are stalled in the Rules committee.

For the record, amendment 1 to the CC bill changes the bill to judges only.

Not sure what Phelps was doing with that.

Maybe to get it out of the committee and get some debate on the floor where he could withdraw the amendment.

When calling about SB2963 remember to call the members on the Senate Rules Committee. It has to get out of the Senate before the House works on it.

any movement at all on cc is a good one. if they agree to allow judges to carry the slippery slope principle gets moving in our favor.

Hey, no biggie, I actually got a laugh out of it. Anyway, it's not who gets the message out, it's that it gets out period!

BTW, anyone doing anything to help the cause? I've been working to get home rule in my municipality and I think I've got enough backing from the board members to get it through by Initiative instead of taking the long way by petitioning for referendum. Your probably wondering "What the heck do this have to do with guns?" After we get home rule, I plan to draft and ordinance stating to the effect that "The right to keep and bear all arms not currently prohibited by the state shall not be infringed" Maybe even get CCW in our town of 750. hehe. Too many times I have sat in Committee watching the bad gun bills pass by 51% while the good ones have to preempt home rule by a 3/5th majority which is really a b**** to get passed. Hopefully with the help of an attorney we can level the playing field and keep Chicago and Springfield out of our backyards. Don't know if it will work but you never know until you try, right? If it does work, it will certainly jerk a knot in Daley's member for sure.

Since I don't have to be at the Hospital every day, I've actually gotten some work done. I've got the 2005 House and Senate profile completed and have added something new. I've figured in a pro-gun percentage for use with the House and Senate 2006 Candidate sheets I've got on my website. I don't have the emails for the challengers yet so if you know any of them, let me know and I'll get them posted.

HB 2414 doesn't look like it's getting anywhere probably don't have enough support yet. I did catch on streaming media at www.ilga.gov Delgado pulling amendment 6 out of the bill which lets me know, they dont' have enough votes to pass it. Get to calling folks. This bill smells like Chicago and should since 23 sponsors are from there. I'll even bet that the lion's share of the rest are from Crook county. Anyway, lets keep the pressure on even though it's very unlikely it's will ever get past the Senate Floor.

Went to a lobbyist class at U of I Springfield last Friday and learned a lot from some of the pros. An 8 hour class. I had to stand up for 2 hours so my butt would get round again. Even got a woman lobbyist from Chicago interested in our cause. Imagine that, wouldn't Daley be dissappointed. Folks, we got to do something other that talk about it, we have to learn then do.

Well, probably won't get back here for a while, I've got a half a box of gun bills I need to read and I ain't doing it sitting here yackin. Ya'll grab one and start reading it, if it doesn't make sense, keep reading it till it does. It's just like shooting, you can't expect to hit the bullseye on your very first shot. You need to practice reading them and the more familiar you get with them, the easier it is to read the next one. Here's a test, print out HB4738 and find all the mistakes in it. I've called John Bradley's office and notified them of all the errors so they can get it redrafted. This bill must have been written by Ray Charles as screwed up as it is. Get out your highlighters and highlight all the things wrong with this bill and email me with all the things you think are wrong. I'll even send a Fight Crime, Support Conceal Carry bumpersticker to the first person to spot all the screwups. No cheating, ya gotta do it by yourself.

Ya'll take care and I'll be back after I get the bills read.
