Having trouble entering birth date for FOID renewal

Recommended Posts

I went to the ISP website to renew my FOID card. It asks different questions about information that is on the card and most is already filled in. I get to date of birth and can only enter month and day and not year. A message pops up saying please enter a value equal to or greater than 1900-01-01. I keep trying to enter my birth year but it won't let me.

BTW I am not over 121 years old!

Plot twist: the ISP software has misinterpreted the age limit of 21 to be 121 and now requires firearm owners to be at least 121.

Does it want/accept your birth date in ISO format, YYYY-MM-DD ? Fortunately, I have a few years to go before I have to wrestle with the quirks of renewal.

It won't take it in YYYY-MM-DD format or the year in MM-DD-YYYY format. It allows me to fill in MM-DD and no year.

That gives me confidence concluding that you'll have to wait until you're at least 121 years old or until IL repeals the FOID, whichever comes first.

... or try a different browser on a different computer, which is a pain.

I had this problem on my iPad one time and when I moved upstairs to use the desktop it was fine. I’m thinking it’s a phone laptop/tablet thing. Yes I know they said they fixed that a while back.

I’d ask a friend to use a desktop if you don’t have one available to you. Library maybe?

As for the paper app. I don’t think they have those anymore.

The old order Amish don't have computers, but some have guns. Why discriminate against someone because they have a religious stand against computers? I live in the jungle and don't have a library card unless I pay $35 or $40 a year no free library card for me.
