  1. Confusing and or a little murky. Good advice about the FOID. My wife doesn't shoot (yet). But she has a FOID, just so she could legally "posess" firearms should something happen to me. So you currently "posess" but don't have a FOID? My question is what kind of rifle is this? Unless it's very valuable or has significant sentimental value it's probably not with the trouble adding the complication to your already complicated situation. Sell/consign it at a local shop (if legal) or turn in to the police.
  2. Correct Great news. I must have missed that when they went to one number.
  3. So much for the New York reload in PR. Anyone ever fly there with firearms?
  4. If I'm reading this right, you don't need to carry a FOID if you carry a CCL ID?
  5. And the passport card is worth the extra $30. Leave the book at home unless you plan to leave North America.
  6. For posterity: 1. Get USPS informed delivery 2. Don't even start to worry until 40 days.
  7. This is good news. Great work! If $10 for a FOID is an onerous tax, what about the $25/firearm and $0.05/round in Cook County? Also, does the fact that it was a single shot bolt action .22 matter in this decision? Seems like the perfect case.
  8. This. There are ways around it but they put the "sponsor" at risk legally. I'm not sure I see a reason to own anyway, since you can't carry or transport legally and any type of home defense situation would be complicated (legally) by a handgun owned by a 17-year-old.
  9. Well, wouldn't you know it, USPS informed delivery shows a piece of mail from the Illinois State Police on the way today.
  10. I mentioned it in the other thread but I have a 12/31/2018 active date too and still no card. I called yesterday and was told they're aware of the delay and it's a printing issue. I understood they guy to say the 12/31 batch is at an outside printer but some posters here say they print in-house. He may have meant it was at the in-house printer. Either way, I was on phone hold for 35 minutes and he seemed to know exactly what I was going to ask so we're probably far from the only ones waiting. He said by the end of the month. I'm hoping for earlier than that. Signed up for USPS informed delivery past week.
