As I read the FCCL text, If I move to Florida I cannot keep my CCL or FOID.

 

BUT, it appears that I can continue as an Illinois Instructor.

 

What would the steps be

 

1) Change of address

2) Cancel FOID

 

How do I perform these steps without losing Instructor status?

 

PS I do have a Florida CCL.

Not sure of you would have to re apply for instructors approval
You either need to be in what Illinois calls a similar state, one on the approved list for non resident ccl’s, and then have a Illinois CCL.
You can however get an instructors approval if you have a out of state CCL in the state you reside in.
If you haven’t moved yet you may have a non resident FL CCL? Not sure if a non resident would get approved based on their FAQ about being a CCL in the state you reside in.

I’m sure I’m wrong on some of this but I am an instructor and went to read a bit to try to help!
Lastly, why be a Illinois instructor in FL? Teach FL residents wouldn’t be of any use to them as FL is not on Illinois list.
You would be able to teach Illinois residents and those who reside in the 5 or 6 states that Illinois says qualify.

   Florida issues the same license to carry to everyone, there is no non-resident/resident.  All you have to do with Florida is go to their web site and change your address, oh yes they do it NO CHARGE unlike the money grubbing socialist state of Illinois.

   You might have people wanting to take the Illinois CCW class in Florida, not to Florida residents but snowbirds that spend winters there.  I know people that get bored to death by time to come back north, they just go for the warmer weather.   Jim.

Funny you posted this. Im looking into retiring in less than a year and a half to Florida and not keeping my Illinois Instructor certification. In fact, im going to burn my FOID card as soon as I get my new FL license. Ill send them back the ashes with a letter. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I want to keep my Illinois instructor approval particularly for snowbirds.
Florida would be my resident CCL, but I could always teach a class or two whenever I make return trips.

Response from ISP:
You will need to send in your CCL and FOID to the address below with a letter asking for the cards to be canceled because of a relocation and that you want to keep your Illinois instructor certification.  We will also need a copy of your current and active Florida resident CCL.   Please also refresh from the FAQ’s for the substantially similar state that qualify for an Illinois CCL.

I've got my CT number, just waiting on the CC ID.
