Thats the sad part. The mayor and city council passes what they know to be an unconstitutional law but they doesn’t have to pay for it, the taxpayers will.

Thats the sad part. The mayor and city council passes what they know to be an unconstitutional law but they doesn’t have to pay for it, the taxpayers will.
Chances are pretty good the tax payers who are now on the hook stood behind Garcetti.

The NRA needs to take out a huge billboard in L.A. thanking them for their $150K contribution to fighting unconstitutional gun control laws.

What we really need is to change the laws that protect idiot Politicians from knowingly and flagrantly pushing unconstitutional laws to harass folks and deprive them of their Constitutional rights, and to make them PERSONALLY liable for the judgments and costs. Imho, they are breaking their fiduciary duties to the taxpayers by leveraging their positions unlawfully, and should be criminally charged as well. Tarred and feathered would be a bonus. Stoning even better.

Yep, the Section 1983 laws need revisions to make it easier to go directly after the legislators when they willfully ignore civil rights, that was the intent of the law in the first place but the courts have placed the bar so high it's essentially blanket immunity.
