IGOLD Postponed

Recommended Posts

Because of the restrictions on crowd size, the inability to obtain parade permits and highly restricted entry into the Illinois State Capitol and other government buildings, the Illinois State Rifle Association is forced to postpone IGOLD until 2022. The date is set for Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

Restrictions on crowd size unless you are MLB, NBA, NFL, etc.

And yet we can cram 240 humans into a airplane for 3 to 4 hours and it’s ok?

As for the permits, great way to keep the man down. Since they don’t want us to be showing up on the news etc.

Think about it. They give permits all over the country for these protest/marches and thousands walk outdoors and block streets.

You’d think the ISRA would grow a pair and sue instead of bowing their heads and says ok while walking off into the night.

Besides blocking traffic, I've never been to an IGOLD that got rowdy or out of hand. Quite the opposite actually. It would probably make news if a few thousand people just happened to be in Springfield that day, all wearing gold. I can skip out on going into the building and attempting to meet with critters that work there. They have always heard us loud and clear, from the steps outside.

Great, so now they have put the fear of god and prosecution into anyone who wants to take a stand!

That is unless you wish to burn and loot and assault someone!

We said it wouldn't happen but in fact it now has. What they are or have done to anyone at the capitol in Washington should be moot.

that was Washington, is the entirety of the states closed from visitors? I for one guess it's time to just go fetal, seems like it's the politically correct thing to do.

Bide my time until i leave this planet and hope for the best!

You're being unfairly harsh here.

Can you honestly say, that Illinois, give the aboe mention restrictions on marches and gatherings, would NOT charge as many IGOLD marchers thumbing there nose at those restrictions, with charges that guarantee forfeiture of FOID and or CCL? Are you willing to have your firearms taken by the state, for the LONG time you would have to fight it in the courts? That is a lot to ask for just the IGOLD march, as important as it is.

Saw that. Not surprised.

I think you are being harsh. A few dozen / hundred people showing up in Springfield for an impromptu protest peacefully walking outdoors in public space really isn't going to cause the sky to fall on anyone as hard as you think it will.

In that case you can expect it to be all over the news as proof that 2A advocacy is dead as only a few dozen people came to what was once a thousands-strong rally

Not necessarily !

If the news crews come out, all we have to do is make sure they know (and we all use similar replies) that we weren't "allowed" to have our march this year NOR could we lobby the legislators. Not being allowed to march, we just decided to "congregate" by different routes and in smaller, more "socially distanced" groups by routes previously unused. Then we have groups of about 4 - 6 people with two holding signs or flags, walk down BOTH sides of the street with 3 - 4 groups per block on each side.

SPREAD OUT ! Make ourselves seen by people in offices that haven't ever seen us march before.

And the MSM, being 100% honest and ethical, will duly report this very red alert important information.
