David Hogg halts gun activism after public spat with Mike Lindell

By Laura Italiano February 11, 2021 | 3:22pm | Updated

Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg has stepped down from his gun control advocacy group in the wake of his public spat with conservative My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell.

Hogg, 20, announced on Twitter on Thursday that he is taking a leave of absence from his position as a board member for March For Our Lives.

Im going to take the time to focus on school, my passions, and my overall well being, he said in a separate tweet.

Hogg went on to allude to his public confrontation with Lindell last week, when he said heck take the conservative on by launching a competing pillow company.

This pillow fight just got very real, Hogg had tweeted at the time calling it progressive competition for Lindell, who had been banned from Twitter the week before for spreading conspiracy theories about voter fraud.

... Hoggs spotlight-diverting effort may have rubbed his fellow gun activists the wrong way.

I feel I must acknowledge that some of my recent actions have undermined my peers within the movement, Hogg wrote on Twitter Thursday, in explaining his departure from March For Our Lives.

To my fellow organizers and those I love most, I want to express my deepest apologies.

Parkland activists divided over David Hogg’s pillow venture as anniversary nears

The prominent gun control movement founded by survivors of the 2018 Parkland high school shooting in Florida has splintered after one member set up his own commercial venture to challenge Donald Trump ally Mike Lindell and his My Pillow company.

David Hogg has been accused of “grift” by other leaders of the March for Our Lives group for his new Good Pillow venture, which the former Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school student launched this week just days before the 14 February anniversary of the massacre that took 17 lives.

In a tweeted statement, March for Our Lives (MFOL) announced that Hogg, 20, was taking a leave of absence as a board member “to take some time for himself to reflect and recommit to the mission”.

Pointedly, the statement, presumably authored by Hogg’s fellow founders, continued: “We want our youth activists, supporters and followers to know that the Good Pillow company is not associated with March for Our Lives.”

What a little punk. "Survivor." Seriously??? These are rotten, scary times we find ourselves living in. Donald Trump can't even publicly communicate other than through intermediaries. Thousands of troops still in the capitol. Everyone just sits around, fretting and waiting for them to complete their consolidation, hoping they'll somehow be spared for their silence.

The "We/They" pillow? It's more inclusive...

Pillow Biters?

And really...at the end of the day..do we really care about that guy?

He's been the subject of ...frankly...just jokes over the years. He gets by thru the support of lefty ideologues.

Seems his 'spat' comes from him venturing out from the mindhive. My guess...He's viewed within his group as 'making money' in a manner beyond their 'station' in life it seems. The obvious pettiness among the mindset.

And...as it goes.. the left tends to eat its own when members are no longer useful(idiots).

So he's leaving his lil group of whacko whiners to compete against an established businessman with the sole business plan of selling the same commodity item for the sake of 'going after' one man while looking to depend on a lefty wacko customer base.

A 20 year old lefty punk starting a business based in vindictiveness...

Not a particularly sound plan....

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I thought he wasn't in the building when the shootings occurred.

That’s the way I remember it.

Close (enough) not only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, we can now add fabricated LWW trauma stories to the list.

He really reminds me of AOC, with her phoney story of how she was almost "murdered" by "insurrectionists." Turns out she was in a different building, and the person asking "where is she" was a capitol police officer looking to escort her out. She made up an entire story, with dramatic "reenacting" and all. She must be sent to the gulag for spreading misinformation!

That isn't how their side operates. She'll be promoted to a new committee soon enough.
