mab22 Posted May 8, 2021 at 08:00 PM Share Posted May 8, 2021 at 08:00 PM My Drivers license number is changing due to real ID, middle initial being removed. Will this affect existing FOID renewal or existing CCL?I thought on the applications it requires a DL or State ID#. When I had my DL upgraded to a Real ID they spelled out my entire middle name to match what is on my passport. My FOID and CCL still have my middle initial and it hasn’t been a problem even when renewing my FOID.

DaveIL Posted May 8, 2021 at 09:08 PM Share Posted May 8, 2021 at 09:08 PM This thread made me look at mine and it did not change… interesting. Did you get the actual card yet, or is it just different on the “paper” temporary?

Molly B. Posted May 8, 2021 at 09:14 PM Share Posted May 8, 2021 at 09:14 PM We have not seen any instances of REAL IDs causing a problem for FOID or CCL.
soundguy Posted May 8, 2021 at 10:08 PM Share Posted May 8, 2021 at 10:08 PM I’m not well versed in Real ID. For air travel, I use my US Passport Card which I carry along with my IL DL. TSA usually seems happy when I present it to them.

DomG Posted May 10, 2021 at 03:48 PM Share Posted May 10, 2021 at 03:48 PM Just checked. My Real ID driver’s license has the same number I’ve always had, but they did add my full middle name. My FOID and CCL have middle initial. I guess I’ll have to update that on next renewal.

The formula for IL is: (MM-1)*31+DD +(600 if female, 0 if male) For example Robert F was born April 3 1977, and is male. Then since april=04 We would compute:(04-1)*31+03+0 = 93+3 = 96. So his DDD number is 096. http://math453spring2009.wikidot.com/forum/t-144244/illinois-drivers-license
101abn Posted May 10, 2021 at 08:13 PM Share Posted May 10, 2021 at 08:13 PM My Drivers license number is changing due to real ID, middle initial being removed. Will this affect existing FOID renewal or existing CCL? I thought on the applications it requires a DL or State ID#. The verification document ( passport - birth certificate ) did not have your middle initial which caused the dl number change. After you receive your new dl you might want to get your abstract with your new number to see if your old number is linked to you. Just to be prepared for renewals. http://www.highprogrammer.com/alan/numbers/dl_us_shared.html#DDD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

If you obtain your abstract, https://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/drivers_license/driving_record_abstract/home.html It should show all activity on your DL. If you dont mind spending 12 bucks to see if it shows a change in DL number. Or maybe call Springfield office and ask if your old number is linked to your new one. Or maybe Molly could ask her contact at isp about an actual DL number change. I dont remember if this has ever been brought up before.
