Change in Drivers License Number, due to real ID.

My Drivers license number is changing due to real ID, middle initial being removed.

Will this affect existing FOID renewal or existing CCL?

I thought on the applications it requires a DL or State ID#.

This has been asked before and basically the answer is no.

When I had my DL upgraded to a Real ID they spelled out my entire middle name to match what is on my passport.

My FOID and CCL still have my middle initial and it hasn’t been a problem even when renewing my FOID.

Did your Drivers License number, or state ID number change or was it just the Middle name?

My number is actually changing.

My DL number did not change. Part of it is composed of your last initial DOB which does change.

The IL. DL/ID number is created using your DOB, sex, and I believe first initials of your first, middle and first last name.

Thats close

Its created using the first letter of your last name..... the soundex code of your last name..... first initial code + last initial code..... year.. and a formula consisting of the calendar day and gender of your birth

There are generators online which, if you know a persons name will give you their D/L...... and reverse generators that will give you most of that information with a guess at the last name...... there were apps created for bars etc years ago so they could tell fake IDs easily

For men, the last 5 digits of an IL driver’s license are the year of your birth and the Julian date of your birthday (001= Jan 1, 365 = Dec 31).

Mine is also 3 days later...

4 days for me.

Maybe this works for last 3

DDD

This one is determine by the sex and the month and day of birth. The formula for IL is:

(MM-1)*31+DD +(600 if female, 0 if male)

For example Robert F was born April 3 1977, and is male. Then since april=04 We would compute:

(04-1)*31+03+0 = 93+3 = 96. So his DDD number is 096.

The verification document ( passport - birth certificate ) did not have your middle initial which caused the dl number change.

After you receive your new dl you might want to get your abstract with your new number to see if your old number is linked to you.

Just to be prepared for renewals.

If you obtain your abstract,

https://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/drivers_license/driving_record_abstract/home.html

It should show all activity on your DL.

If you dont mind spending 12 bucks to see if it shows a change in DL number.

Or maybe call Springfield office and ask if your old number is linked to your new one.

Or maybe Molly could ask her contact at isp

about an actual DL number change.

I dont remember if this has ever been brought up before.
