Molly B. Posted January 4, 2020 at 09:46 PM Share Posted January 4, 2020 at 09:46 PM We currently have approximately 62,000 FOID applications under review which includes new, renewals and changes.FOID card holders will remain valid throughout the renewal process, as long as they apply for their card renewal prior to the expiration date on their FOID card. From ISP Facebook page: The ISP’s FSB is currently working on implementing a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution to provide much needed improvements and efficiencies to the call center. The State of Illinois vendor contract with Presidio has an estimated implementation cost of $750,000 with a recurring monthly cost of $10,000; these costs are being paid for through the State Police Firearm Services Fund. The new VoIP system allows for not only automated processes, such as completing an application without having to speak to an agent, it is also interactive. It will work in conjunction with the existing system and agents to populate their computer with information ahead of receiving a caller, to better and more quickly assist them. The call flow allows callers to select their specific issues and potentially resolve them independent of an agent. The system will also enable a person to request a call back without having to remain on the line. In addition, it will provide callers the ability to renew a FOID card or Concealed Carry License (CCL) with no address change over the phone, including payment, without speaking to a live agent. Until improvements in the call center are completed, there are four methods for obtaining assistance with FOID/CCL related issues. Applicants may call (217) 782-7980; they can visit the Illinois State Police home page and click the Firearms tab to the left where they will find a section related directly to FOID/CCL, complete with a FAQ section: https://www.ispfsb.com/; for video tutorials related to FOID/CCL, they can visit https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqmvVzpfjsojFnd50HndO5A; or they can email the FSB at ISP.ASKFOID@illinois.gov where a customer service agent can provide assistance. InterestedBystander Posted January 4, 2020 at 10:47 PM Share Posted January 4, 2020 at 10:47 PM Link? Each district has its own FB page which is public and does not require a FB login. Dont see it on Chicago or Springfield pages. If this is the main overall page https://www.facebook.com/IllinoisStatePolice it requires a login to view which is silly if they are wanting to disseminate information to people. How do we get them to make it public if they arent going to post news on their web site?

capnbill Posted January 4, 2020 at 11:07 PM Share Posted January 4, 2020 at 11:07 PM My FOID expired Jan 1, 2020; I renewed Oct 9, 2019. Yep, it's still "Under Review". Virtually impossible to contact a live person, via their Customer Service. I did fill out an online FOID Inquiry yesterday; we'll see how long it takes for them to respond to that, and I'll try calling again on Monday. I've seen how ISP states the FOID is still valid, if renewal is submitted prior to expiration, but not all local gun store go by that rule. I know of one (there may be more), Mega Sports (yeah, I know how some people will never do business there) will not sell ammo, and I'd also assume a firearm, without presenting a valid FOID card. They state that the FOID and the CCL have different expiration dates, so they need to see the actual FOID. You can't access the FOID Renewal site until you are 90 calendar days from expiration date and then ISP has 60 business days to approve the new card, then it's another 1 - 2 weeks to get it out through snail mail. Maybe they should open up the renewal link 90 business days from expiration rather than calendar days.

Black Flag Posted January 5, 2020 at 11:58 PM Share Posted January 5, 2020 at 11:58 PM It's bad enough that a new card takes 30 days, really 90 days. The renewal should be a slam dunk, after all, for the whole 10 years that you've held the damn thing the ISP runs a check on you daily. But noooooooo, we had to give the (past) governor another 30 days because they can't get it done with no money (sweep, sweep) and office hijinkxz in the closet takes away from the ability to get the job done.
