She doesn't know how many people will be on the task force.

Depends how many cronies they have that need a pension.

She does admit to the elimination of private transfers.

She is asked how many criminals will go through this process.  She changes the subject.

He asks how many people in Chicago can go to an FFL for a transfer.  In the absence of an answer he tells her there are no FFLs in Chicago.

He asks how address change data is protected when transferred back and forth between ISP and the Secretary of State.

She has faith...

He points out to her that there is some good in her bill, but the bill is packed with poison pills.

Rep Cassidy asks if anything in the bill impacts medical cannabis users.

The sponsor commits to working with her, so the answer is no.

Showing her continued disdain for the Constitution, she derides people who "believe the Second Amendment is the law of the land".

I’m glad someone else heard that the same way I did

That'll make a good commercial.

It's almost enough to make one suspicious that this bill isn't really about criminals.

Rep Cassidy should have read the bill, as all Reps should, so they freaking know what is in it.  That always burns me.

Should also ask if it infringes on any rights of law abiding citizens, better yet, how it will force criminals to follow the damn law after passed.

Rep Buckner expresses concern for the cost of getting a FOID card disenfranchising some of his constituents.

The sponsor says fingerprint fees will be capped at $30.

He asks about applicants who have been indicted, but not convicted of a crime.

The intent the sponsor explains is to not disenfranchise them.

Rep Davidsmeier points out that Illinois makes its residents second class citizens compared to those from out of state, who do not require FOID cards.

Intent has no validity.  It is what the bill will actually do.

The sponsor saying she’s not familiar with a current process she wants to change is…classic

Rep McCombie asks the sponsor if she can describe the process of a private sale currently.

Ms. Hirshcauer does not know the process, then says you would not have to do a background check.

Ms. McCombie points out her error, explaining that universal background checks are already law in Illinois now.

Ms. McCombie asks if folks are not following the current law regarding background checks now, why would they under her law.

After trying different answers, the sponsor calls it a check and a balance.

McCombie points out this part of the bill will do absolutely nothing.

She adds that the fee cap for the FFL transfer is problematic as well.

Because the 'sponsor' is a paid activist for an anti-gun org, they got elected.

Of course it will, because certain politicians are spineless and willing to break based on empty promises of future “fixes”

Showing her FOID and concealed carry license, Rep Hammond says that most of the "gun violence" is not committed by people with these cards, that they "don't give a damn about these cards".

They continue to gloss over the fact that the Aurora shooter was not a lawful FOID card holder when he committed those acts, and hadn’t been for years. None of this would’ve stopped that shooting.
