  1. The biggest scandal: There's a boatload of smart people trying to disarm us and we seem powerless to stop it.
  2. Any Democrat temper tantrum thrown in response, or are they saving it for some middle-of-the-night bill passage?
  3. Now I want a firearm made of niobium solely for its melting point... 4473° F.
  4. Clueless, or willfully spreading misinformation for their own personal or judicial gains?
  5. I guess our fine leaders take that whole "beware the Ides of March" thing seriously.
  6. Meaning we could file "pro" for something on one day, only to have the bill gutted and replaced with something we oppose, but those original slips are still good, so it looks like we are in favor of it? In the past we've always had to file slips for or against an amendment. I would hope that's still a thing, but I wouldn't put it past either party to try some shenanigans to get around it. No, which is why I asked about it. "We have to pass it to find out what's in it."
  7. Is there a reason why we wouldn't want to file a slip in support of something like HB4327, even if it has zero chance of passing? We file a lot of opposition slips and they will pass some of those things anyway. https://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?DocTypeID=HB&DocNum=4327&GAID=17&SessionID=112&LegID=151213
  8. That's a different, much larger list. We special people who actually submit opposition slips, now that's a juicy target for the state. The General Assembly Opposition LEarning and Reeducation (GAOLER) Act will take care of us.
  9. Until the state uses the witness slip lists to put the opponents on their own list... God, I hope that stays purple.
  10. The links in the original post still point to the previous cancelled meeting. I assume we're still supposed to hit these for the currently scheduled meeting. I'm going to, anyway.
  11. How can SCOTUS enforce its precedents. It seems to me that some lower court judges are operating under the opinion that SCOTUS is powerless to stop them. The House could impeach all the judges it wants, but good luck getting a 2/3 majority to convict in the Senate. (Unless I'm missing something key like the possibilty that an impeached judge cannot remain on the bench.)
  12. From the "I am not a lawyer" files: If someone does something to initiate a legal challenge over the registry being left open beyond the mandated date, would that challenge be considered as an acceptance that the law is valid, because the ISP or Governor are acting outside that particular law?
  13. Judicial activism, for the win? In my fantasy world I'd love for SCOTUS to have a mic drop moment and declare every state and federal gun control law unconstitutional, including the NFA and the GCA. The problem is that the liberal states would instantly spring into action to pass new laws or just tell SCOTUS to eff off completely. At the same I bet that most sellers would be extremely unwilling to open up sales unrestricted nationwide.
  14. I think it's not so much as mental illness as much as an organized attempt to undermine Heller, Bruen, and all the other 2A-favorable rulings long enough until they get SCOTUS aligned in their favor to wipe those decisions out altogether.
