Not an expert or lawyer, but I thought self defense ended when the threat ended. Anything after that is a problem. We all know the pharmacist story, right?

Back to the story at hand:
https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/carlishia-hood-lawsuit-wrongful-arrest-murder-jeremy-brown/
"Surveillance video outside the restaurant shows the teen enter the restaurant, and cell phone video from inside shows Brown punching Hood at least three times in the head and face.
Prosecutors said that's when the teen pulled out a gun from his hoodie and shot Brown in the back. Brown fled the restaurant, but the teen followed him outside. He fired more shots after Hood told him to shoot and kill Brown, prosecutors said.
Brown was shot twice in the back and later died from his injuries."
So from what I can tell, the first shot was defending his mom and was OK. No real issue there. But the guy...the threat to his mom...ran out and was trying to get away. He was out of the building and no longer a threat to his mom or anyone, then the kid put more shots toward him anyway. He hit him at least once more, in the back. That was not self defense anymore. He must have had a huge adrenaline dump, and his mom was telling him to do it, so she is really the problem at that point, but again, I don't see the last shot or shots as even remotely self defense. If that was an officer who did the same thing the city would be burning now.
