First Purchase

Recommended Posts

Today I get to go pick up my first purchase of a firearm that was sent by FFL but I'm kind of worried because I'm a ex felon that had his rights restored through ISP. So I get to do the 4473 and worried that it won't go through. I'm wondering if I should take the letter ISP sent me stating my rights have been restored and I also sent the FBI my prints and the copy of the letter last week with a VAF application. Will the letter even matter if the check is a no go?

There are others on this forum that know more about the 4473 process than I do. That said, I would think if the ISP restored your rights, I think if it were me, I would NOT bring a copy of the letter with. I would just let things roll. But, like I said, I am not as educated in the 4473 process as others on this forum are...lets see what others say.

I would suspect that bringing the letter would be of no use. You either pass the background check or you do not. I don't beleive that any FFL would go through with the transfer after you are rejected just because you have a letter that you say is authentic since the FFL has no real way of judging whether the letter is authentic. If you do not pass, then it will be on you to sort out the issue with the various police agencies to get that turned around. I would not expect that the FBI has done anything with any communication that you only sent to them last week.

Well they said it may be a day or two because my background check didn't come back instantly. Hopefully tomorrow I get the call to come and pick it up since I'm off for three days. They said I could shoot it but I didn't have any ammunition and they didn't either.

Background checks are taking 2-4 days starting from this past weekend. I had a Friday background clear on Tuesday and 2 Monday backgrounds that cleared on Wednesday. So be patient and CONGRATULATIONS...

I got a call earlier from my FFL and my background check came back good and I can now pick up my firearm. This is my first background check as a ex felon with my rights restored and I'm goid to go. It took about a week.
