templar223 Posted March 12, 2008 at 05:47 PM Posted March 12, 2008 at 05:47 PM About 2500 to 3000 Illinois gun owners turned out for the 2008 IGOLD event, lobbying our legislators nicely. Of course, it's IL, so a goodly number of legislators didn't really want to hear from gun owners, but they heard from us anyway. In fact, they couldn't go much of anywhere without be surrounded by gun owners in the Capitol complex. http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2001s.jpgThe orientation before the march. And march photos, starting with getting warmed up, then marching through downtown Springfield to the Capitol with a police escort and cops blocking all of the traffic. http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2002s.jpg http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2003s.jpg http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2004s.jpg Yes, the march stretched out a good three blocks. http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2005s.jpg
templar223 Posted March 12, 2008 at 05:48 PM Author Posted March 12, 2008 at 05:48 PM 2nd half. (Grrrr: I sure am glad we are limited on the # of photos that can go into a single post.) http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2006s.jpg http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2007s.jpgTroublemakers in the Senate gallery. I stood on a chair and snapped this photo and stepped back down before security could chastise me for standing on a chair. http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2008s.jpgThat's Shane Cultra (with his back to camera) talking with some GSL members at the IGOLD event on the House floor. You could say Shane is a friendly legislator... he's got one of our highway sign sets on his property in his home district! http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2009s.jpgChapin Rose (far left), a good friend who happens to now by a IL House Rep, talks with some friends of mine and fellow GSL members at the speaker's podium in the House. http://www.gsldefensetraining.com/photos/IGOLD%202008%2010s.jpgThis is Charity. We gave away a gun again this month, as is custom at each of our monthly Guns Save Life meetings. Charity, a first-time attendee, won this Browning HiPower clone, NIB. It was a very long day, but a very good day. John
Thirdpower Posted March 12, 2008 at 07:54 PM Posted March 12, 2008 at 07:54 PM I stole one of the pictures for my blog. Fantastic shots. http://daysofourtrailers.blogspot.com/2008...mbers-game.html
GlockShooter Posted March 12, 2008 at 09:17 PM Posted March 12, 2008 at 09:17 PM John, What were you wearing? From the shots you took, I was standing next to you most of the day.
GWBH Posted March 12, 2008 at 11:37 PM Posted March 12, 2008 at 11:37 PM Excellent work there John - very impressive shots! Dang - a Browing HP - NICE!!
M_anstrom Posted March 13, 2008 at 01:09 AM Posted March 13, 2008 at 01:09 AM Great shots john, I took quite a few myself (about 111 give or take) but my computer froze trying to up load them all.http://a77.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/38/l_70599e4f7135733e00dfb4ba1b399504.jpgI haven't the slightest clue why it looks as if you all were arguing. http://a546.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/69/l_cd60b190a10aaf7f5aec32482b844021.jpgI was towards the back of the march myself. http://a100.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/79/m_96d7e262cd94a03fbc30785a0231dc53.jpgWere he SHOULD be... http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...albumId=1646010I have a few more to post on my myspace plus several videos from the march.
junglebob Posted March 13, 2008 at 02:09 AM Posted March 13, 2008 at 02:09 AM Has anyone heard what the exact count was for people at IGOLD?
Guest YASLIFF Posted March 13, 2008 at 03:03 AM Posted March 13, 2008 at 03:03 AM On our way down to the rally, our driver made a stop at a State of Illinois official rest stop. A couple of us noticed this sign next to the restroom. It's kind of ironic if you think about it. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg103/NRAUSA/sign.jpg
Molly B. Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:59 AM Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:59 AM WHOA! Great shot and says it all.
Ocellairs Posted March 13, 2008 at 05:11 AM Posted March 13, 2008 at 05:11 AM WHOA! Great shot and says it all. Not only WHOA, but WOW.....that can be used for a campaign! Matter of fact, I've seen several of those around the state with out of order sign on them.
Ol'Coach Posted March 13, 2008 at 12:14 PM Posted March 13, 2008 at 12:14 PM Like: ..........................Glad I brought my own!
Buzzard Posted March 13, 2008 at 02:31 PM Posted March 13, 2008 at 02:31 PM Could it be this isn't a funtional system yet?
Guest YASLIFF Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:53 PM Posted March 13, 2008 at 04:53 PM I have it on the camera @10 megapixels if it's needed for higher resolution. Just let me know.

A couple of us noticed this sign next to the restroom. It's kind of ironic if you think about it. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg103/NRAUSA/sign.jpg Wow! A picture is worth a thousand words!!!!! 48 other states recognize a citizens right to self defense. Illinois gives us a stainless steel box that has "police" painted on it with a texas buble gum machine on the lid, and of course, it's out of order. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Ashdump Posted March 13, 2008 at 05:16 PM Posted March 13, 2008 at 05:16 PM Not only WHOA, but WOW.....that can be used for a campaign! Matter of fact, I've seen several of those around the state with out of order sign on them. I don't really see what difference it makes anyway. Your left defenseless either way. The police will arrive in time to seal off the scene and get the chalk out.
abolt243 Posted March 13, 2008 at 06:37 PM Posted March 13, 2008 at 06:37 PM Could it be this isn't a funtional system yet? Just the opposite, used to be functional, taken out of service for some reason! AB

ishmo Posted March 14, 2008 at 12:27 AM Posted March 14, 2008 at 12:27 AM Might be time for a mail campaign to the legislators with a copy of this pic and a note we're tired of hearing how the police will protect us when they can't even keep their own systems working. I personally think they ought to change 911 to 463 ( GOD ) because He's the only one who can help you in this state.
templar223 Posted March 14, 2008 at 09:07 PM Author Posted March 14, 2008 at 09:07 PM I was wearing khakis and a dark blue dress shirt. John See photo below (thanks anstrom) http://a780.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/113/l_bc27d249b4e75af5ff34991d68d3bf3b.jpg
