Just learned of this case.  While state-specific, it will be very interesting to watch and see if there are findings that can be applied in our lower-altitude state.

SAF Drops Major Lawsuit Challenging Colorado’s Excise Tax on Guns & Ammo

 

 

On March 31, 2025, a coalition of gun rights advocates—including the National Rifle Association (NRA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), FPC, and others—filed a lawsuit in Colorado state court challenging the constitutionality of a new 6.5% excise tax on firearms, ammunition, and firearm precursor parts.

 

One of the defendants (county District Attorney) tried to have the case dismissed but the district court recently allowed it to move forward.
