Trump fuels hopes for nationwide right-to-carry legislation with surprise declaration at Pennsylvania event.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that his administration is "working on" national right-to-carry legislation, a comment that could signal White House support for a proposal that would dramatically expand firearm carry rights across the U.S.

I love the thought, but then it jumped into my mind that this could be just like they are working on the voter ID bill.

Yeah, color me cynical...

Yes, one hopefully good thing to help However is every state does have it.

My worry about national, certainly can't be worse than Illinois, with what requirement?

Should be buy it and put it in your pocket but even though the majority of the US is that way unfortunately we still have blue states.

Most likely it’ll be some form of “national reciprocity with states allowed restrictions” and you’ll end up with red states moving to being all basically constitutional carry and blue states allowing you to “carry” but only in the 3 spots so designated and properly signed with the prior approval of the property owner and local mental health agency who’s only open on fifth fridays of the month….

Kinda disappointing SCOTUS left the door open for "permits" at all in Bruen......now we are left with this mess.

I still say trying to protect the Second Amendment > trying to harm it.  I'll take a guy (or woman) who's intentions are to help over one who expresses a desire to cause us harm.

That which government gives permission by legislation, government may taketh away permission via legislation.
Wasn't parts of the gun control act supposed to provide protections for citizens from state action but then the states didn't like that so the "congress fixed it for them" and screwed the citizens?
...Thank you sir may I have another!

Oh, I get that and I'd prefer a SCOTUS ruling or even an absence of any political party that includes infringing our rights as part of their platform.  Yet, other than nominating justices amenable to those rights, President Trump has no real influence over what SCOTUS does and he certainly has no input in that other party's stated goals.  But he does profess a respect for our 2A rights, and I continue to contend that trumps (see what I did there) other's professed desire to take our rights away.

All they would have to do is enforce the 2nd Amendment like the do all the other ones and it will be done! "Shall NOT infringe" is pretty plain to me.

Except the commie hoard has unethical lawyers on its side.
