“I applied for my CCL with fingerprints and currently have about 32 days left on the 90-day review period. Has anyone recently received approvals before the full 90 days? Just trying to get an idea of current processing times.”

How often do the statistics get updated? There hasn't been an update since after January 2026. From Jan 2025 to Jan 2026, each month the average processing time for fingerprint CCL applications has been well under 60 days.

I applied with fingerprints on March 15, 2026, the same day I completed the mandatory 16-hour CCL class. I'm now at the 60 day mark and my status still says Under Review with 29 days remaining. They haven't reviewed any aspect of my application, it says.

Does anyone know what's the hold up?

Backpacker, did you take your class in McHenry? I applied for mine on March 15th as well — down to 27 days remaining today.”

Today my application went into back ground check

Were you sent an email communicating that your status has been updated, or do you just manually check daily?

The ISP FSB are certainly taking their sweet time. I applied without prints on Feb 25th, I haven't even entered the processing queue. 86 days so far.

I guess that's why they haven't updated their statistics since January 2026. So they can hide from the public that it's taking much longer now.

Passed the background check today sent for printing.

Check your digital/electronic version as well. Once the image says "CCL: Yes" in the upper right corner, you can begin lawfully carrying without having to wait for the physical printed card.

Today, mine has been sent to background review! For those curious, here is the exact wording: "We have completed our initial review of your submission and have determined that all necessary items are present. Your application has been moved to the background review queue."

My status is Active! Card is Printed! My electronic card was also updated to say Yes!

I'm going to take a nice long walk this evening and lawfully carry for the first time in Illinois. I can't believe it.

Physical card arrived in the mail!

From applying on March 15, 2026 to Active status (when you can start lawfully carrying): 72 days

To receiving printed card: 77 days

Takes much longer nowadays, but still under the 90 days with fingerprints.

My FOID was auto-renewed by ten years as well.
