Another Denial Question. Apologies if redundant

Hello Folks,

Some advice if possible? I have held a FOID in good standing for 30+ years. Given how close to Chicago I live, I figured it wasn't worth the CCL on account you cannot carry anywhere up here. Recently however I decided to move forward and apply. I scrutinized the statute thoroughly to ensure I'd be eligible within the rules. I am. But yet, after waiting 52 days after the initial application with prints...Bingo: DENIED. It stated the denial was based on a "statutory prohibitor." Also stated there would be further details in the letter. There initially was no letter online under the correspondence tab. Finally, 2 days after the DENIAL, there was a letter under the correspondence tab. But go figure, although there, it says unviewable. It has been a week now, denial letter still unviewable, nor have I received a paper copy of the letter. How does one even proceed to appeal if one has no idea what they are appealing? And isn't the clock already ticking on an appeal? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, the clock is ticking, you can try and call them, and tell them what the issue is. I would get in touch with Ms. Molly and ask if she can intervene on your behalf. Thanks for posting, I too sent some info to them recently and never got a response, your post reminded me of it, so thanks.

Is it a link to a PDF you can download via right click?  Try a different browser.  I've had issues with Chrome on various state websites. 

 

Also.  Turn off all ad blockers and extensions you may have running.

Hello Friends,

No-go using a different browser (Firefox), same response for a week now. This process is beyond corrupt, no way this is fluke. I am unable to even mount an appeal because they go out of their way to deny an applicant the information needed to appeal. So I am left to ponder what the statutory prohibitor could possibly be. There are only so many possibilities, and per the statute as written... I qualify. Then of course there is the wildcard possibility of a LE objection. And for the life of me, I do not see how that would be possible.  Really, really bad that I need to get an attorney to simply figure out if an appeal is practical. $1000 retainer, not for an appeal, but to figure out if an appeal is prudent. I don't have that kind of money, but I will be doing it based on principle.  I have captured the message that keep popping up when I try to open the supposed denial letter. But even with the online "technical" issue, I certainly should have received a snail mail copy by now as well. This is hardly a "shall issue" State! Sorry for the venting, I am P.O.'d.

Just an observation…I didn’t see where you said you took and passed the 16 hour class and the 30 round qual shoot.  Did you?
