Jeffrey Posted January 19, 2026 at 05:55 PM Posted January 19, 2026 at 05:55 PM That would be more than enough for me to be carrying.
Flingarrows Posted January 19, 2026 at 09:54 PM Author Posted January 19, 2026 at 09:54 PM Thanks Molly and Jeffrey. I just had my shoulder scoped, so I won’t be going out for a few days. It should be here by then.

Both of mine are bad with the left also having a torn (and unrepairable) bicep. Recently, partially dislocated the right after having a partial cuff tear several years ago with another partial tear possible. Finally go to see the orthopedic specialist later this week (one month after !) and the shoulder has popped out several times since but I've been able to flex the shoulder muscles and it has gone back in after 10-30 seconds of "manipulation". 🤪 🙄 Good luck on your recovery!!

Thanks! Yes, rotator and torn labrum. i had the bicep thing in 2014, with another labrum tear. I have been warned that they are running out of real-estate for future repairs - time to take better care of what is left. I have a replacement coming for the right when this heals up. If your insurance doesnt cover the $100 ice machine, spring for it; it is worth every penny. I have been dealing with this set of injuries since July. Glad to finally get this addressed. Good luck on yours!

Good luck on yours! Well, the news wasn't real good. New Xrays indicate that the ball of the humerus (top of arm) has been "out of alignment" for some time and there is damage to the AC joint at the top and on the lower inner surface where the ball meets the scapula. Doctor wants me to get an MRI as it will do a better job of imaging the soft tissues and that will happen in about 2 weeks. After that, who knows. If I avoid moving the shoulder in certain ways, it "behaves". On Wednesday, before going to the doctor on Thursday, a neighbor and I spent about 2.5 hours splitting wood 6-14" diameter into wedges for my fireplace. We filled up the bed of my Ford Ranger p/u and I plan on pulling it into the carport tomorrow with a tarp over the wood to keep the snow off the wood. I use 5 gal. plastic buckets to carry 1-3 pieces into the house (1 bucket in each hand) or a lot of 2" or thinner "kindling". I just can't reach out with my right arm and hook my fingers behind the log and drag it towards me. In doing that the other day getting wood out of my car's trunk, the shoulder popped out twice but went back in with a few seconds of "shrugging" & rotation. It's "H" getting old !
Flingarrows Posted January 25, 2026 at 02:08 AM Author Posted January 25, 2026 at 02:08 AM Oh man. I hate to say it, but it sounds like you are looking at a joint replacement. As soon as my left is far enough along, I will be getting a new joint in the right. Deteriorated labrum an too much arthritis to repair.. You are spot on: getting old is “h”
