Monday while driving to take Amy to therapy I received a call from the NRA secretary. I suspected it was about my bio I had sent in for this election. He began by asking me if I was clairvoyant. I then asked him if there had been another resignation? Lets back up a couple of weeks - -

After a couple of people resigning from the Board, my friend John Richardson and I were talking as I was wondering where I now stood, I placed 35 in the election. 25 were elected to 3 year terms, then a couple of 2 year terms and then 1 year term, plus the 76th director. One person not elected above had choose not to accept a vacancy. John and I surmised I was next in line. Being Early October, with a couple of BoD members very advanced in age and the WLP cabal being stripped of power and have been leaving, the odds were 50/50 another resignation might take place. So I called the Secretary to see if they would offer the next seat to the person on the ballot above me who had turned it down before. He wasn't sure but it posed an interesting question.

Back to Monday, I said John there's been another resignation and you're going to offer me a seat on the Board right? YES. was the reply and I told him I accept. I'm doing all the onboarding stuff and have my first tele-conference Thursday with Board members.

I was given a sheet for my committee choices and was tolds last night un-officially all of my requests were granted

I may hangout at Range Development since I think I know a little bit about this.

While I get my legs underneath me on this the real work begins, I serve until the new Board is seated in April. to stay on I need to win my election and here is where it gets a bit tricky.

this past week it has come to my attention that the Chairman of the Nominating Committee did not want me nominated. How hard he worked on this I'm not sure, but he never disclosed this to me in our phone conversations prior. Furthermore the group running the 2026 "reform" slate will only support those who were nominated by the committee and pay the money for their advertising campaign. I'm not in the first and last year won't be asked or included because of that. Despite ponying up my cash for the ad last year.

So this election I will need to lean on groups I know and coordinate a "bullet" voting campaign. 25 opening for a 3 year term. there will be a couple of more terms to fill that are 2 or 1 year. and then there is the in person balloting for the 76th director. Bullet voting means you don't vote for 25. you vote for a lesser number -- say 10. for those 10 candidates, those 15 votes not cast are 15 votes that don't give another candidate a chance to rack up votes and get ahead of me. So, this is going to be very important as I talk with the grassroots reformers like John Richardson and others to formulate a slate. I know Dick Fairbury is up again as he got a 1 year term last time and in speaking with ISRA they want to focus on more Illinois representation, which I agree with. John has a couple of names of good people he supports including me. I'm going to be working with some other groups so your help is going to be critical this year when ballots come out in January.

thanks
