EdFC Posted August 28, 2025 at 11:42 PM Posted August 28, 2025 at 11:42 PM Hello Y’all, I just moved here recently and was wondering if there are any shops that you all would recommend around DuPage county? Thank you!
russ60477 Posted August 29, 2025 at 04:06 AM Posted August 29, 2025 at 04:06 AM Jr sporting guns in aurora is a great shop and range
rmart Posted August 29, 2025 at 02:51 PM Posted August 29, 2025 at 02:51 PM (edited) I like North American Firearms on St. Charles Road in Lombard. Small shop but great people. Edited August 31, 2025 at 02:11 PM by rmart
stigz Posted August 29, 2025 at 02:56 PM Posted August 29, 2025 at 02:56 PM Range and 355 in Bolingbrook. Great clean indoor range. Very friendly, which can be very rare around here. Gat guns in Dundee. Pretty good all around store and range. My experience with jr's was never good. Maybe they changed in the last decade. Some outdoor ranges nearby would be buffalo range near Ottawa or Aurora sportsman club (private but has public events).
Jeffrey Posted August 29, 2025 at 03:15 PM Posted August 29, 2025 at 03:15 PM Anywhere but JR's Their attitude is bottom of the barrel towards customers. When I wanted to buy a TRP I was treated like I was lucky to be in their presence.
ealcala31 Posted August 30, 2025 at 01:08 PM Posted August 30, 2025 at 01:08 PM Just cause you're in DuPage, gun owners do get around... Range @ 355 has targets that you can automate to move, horizontal/vertical & timed. Pretty good to practice mag changes. RSOs can be a-holes. Had a guy question my tax stamp on a few SBRs I brought in there. Wanted to physically see them. Was ready to walk out if I didn't have a competition match that weekend. But he did let me do double-taps. Range USA in Villa Park is pretty good, except watch out for rapid fire. You can get away with double taps. Gat Guns, years ago, got anal because I did some "full semi-auto" (it was only a 10rd mag dump) with my Ruger 10/22 in their range. Mega Sports in Plainfield, years ago, their RSOs would inspect your ammo and don't even try a double-tap. Not sure if that's changed. Buffalo Rock in Ottawa, nothing beats out door shooting, PERIOD. If you like to shoot, join an outdoor gun club. You cannot beat the experience vs an indoor range. As far as purchasing firearms & accessories, I am an FFL (but in Cook County, bummer) and we have a few other guys in this forum that are FFLs as well. All the places above have retail gun shops, and almost everyone has access to the www...

rmart Posted August 31, 2025 at 12:49 AM Posted August 31, 2025 at 12:49 AM Didn't mention before because it's not in DuPage but Fox Valley Gun Range in Elgin has a great clean range and a yooge selection of guns, accessories, and ammo.

Felixd Posted August 31, 2025 at 11:50 PM Posted August 31, 2025 at 11:50 PM I recommend that Mega Sports in Plainfield be avoided. Very poor interpersonal communication with most of the employees. It appears that they, the employees, consider the customer to be an ignorant wretch who needs constant supervision and who is too stupid to think on their own. Because of that you are usually directed to most any gun other than what you want to see and are stuck listening to lavish gun shop Commando war stories.
